Kv-32fq75
I have recently bought a KV-32FQ75 Sony WIdescreen TV and am experiencing problems with it. If I increase the volume to anything above 1/3 the sound gets distorted no matter what the input (DVD, aerial, satellite). Is this normal? Or is my set faulty? I have tried all the preset equaliser settings and also set up a personal setting.

It does sound like a fault - as the set is new it's worth complaining to your dealer. The only EQ settings worth using are flat and personal - the rest are just a gimmick.
I would say though that the sound on this set is not great even when it's working properly. The speakers are just too small. I just use my main stereo amp and speakers all the time. It's possible to fit external speaker sockets as a modification. When doing this, it's necessary to use the personal EQ to flatten the response, because when the display shows the response as flat, it is actually equalised to suit the built-in speakers, i.e. lots of bass boost. This problem doesn't occur when using an external amp. |

I am getting the dealer to fix it. Have tried connecting up just a DVD and when the volume gets to 1/4 or above, there's definite distortion and it's not pleasant. Thanks for the advice. Will connect my AV amp in the meantime.
