Those two have performed on Strictly before, so I don't see why they wouldn't do it again?

How the X Factoir does might affect guest availability - I think it was in 2009 that Mariah Carey was booked to appear on Strictly, and Bruce and Tess announced one Saturday that she'd be appearing the following week. However, apparently SyCo said that if she appeared on Strictly then they wouldn't have her on X Factor and with X Factor being the ratings juggernaut it was that year Mariah pulled out of Strictly.

However, if X Factor isn't as successful this year as it has been for the last couple then we might see some of the bigger names popping up on Strictly again (Girls Aloud and Kylie both appeared on series 5 of Strictly and Series 4 of X Factor in 2007; Beyonce appeared on both shows in 2008).

Personally I'd prefer it if they ditched the singing guests altogether and featured some international dancing instead ie Spanish, Greek, Russian, etc. Some of the singing acts they have had on in the past have been pretty cringeworthy.

Hi Angela F, that sounds like a great idea to me. I'd still like some singers (so long as they CAN sing) for the pro's to dance to, but some other dancing influences would be great. Nice to mix it up a bit!

OK - there are three places left for competitiors. It would start on Monday 15th August, with the launch show on Friday 12th- where if you would like to take part you would find out your pro partner - and of course what dance you would be doing on monday - song choices are done by PM'g essexboyash who runs the contest

I'd like to see Paolo Nutini on there too.

Andrea Bocelli and Katherine Jenkins again, so that Anton and Erin can showcase their ballroom routines.

No more than two songs requiring a Rumba routine- apparently a lot of the pros are a bit fed up of choreographing Rumba after Rumba for the musical numbers, and it does get a bit samey!

Michael Buble- but not a Rumba type song!

Girls Aloud, to recreate the famous 'I think we're alone now' routine!

Lady Gaga would be amazing, they could give all the pros mental costumes!

Lots of great ideas and I agree - limit the rumbas!

Would love more great guest dance spots and don't mind if it's 'world dance', ballroom, ballet, hippity hoppity or line dancing

Singing? I'd like to see Beyonce, Imelda May, the Buble, Aloe Blacc (sp?), Corinne Bailey Rae, Jesse J, Adele (whoever books for the Graham Norton Show could help out )

Please, enough of Take That.
Please, please no Bee Gees.
And please, please, pretty please, no Brucie

Edit - not a Gaga fan, but would be great for the show and yes, v. funny imagining Anton......

Yikes!

Yeah, I don't like the idea of having all the pros dancing each pro routine, whether or not they're good at the dance in question. I would rather see an increase in the number of musical numbers suitable for ballroom routines, in exchange for Anton and Erin never being in a single latin routine.

Some of the latin pros are not bad at ballroom, although the ones I thought crossed over best (Ian in particular) have all left now.

I'm not a big fan of the 'guest spot' on Strictly; it's usually my cue to go and put the kettle on.

I know Strictly is more an entertainment show than a dance show but, for me, the only 'entertaining' guest last series was Paloma Faith, since she was the only singer to put her ego to one side so that we could concentrate on the dancing. Admittedly, her appearance in the final was accompanied by all the eliminated couples, so the cameras concentrated on them rather than the singer, but that was fine by me - if only all guest appearances worked that way!

Another guest (can't remember who ) had an ego so huge that no dancers accompanied the performance (weren't there a lot of candles on the dance-floor or something?). Again, that's fine by me - either pure singing or pure dancing, but not the compromise of not being really able to concentrate on them both at the same time.

I'm sure there must have been some younger guests during the last series (maybe I was making a cup of tea and missed it), but there did seem to be an awful lot of, erm, well, OLDER performers. Friends of Brucie? Frankly (and I say this as somebody who is not exactly a spring chicken), a bit past their sell-by date and rather boring. I mean, I like Bette Midler, but I really don't need to hear 'Wind Beneath My Wings' or 'The Rose' yet again...

Oh, and I totally agree with katie_p - a strict quota for rumbas!

Lol. I was trying to find a nice way of saying no geriatric has-beens and shied away from it . 'Friends of Bruce' - good coinage, love it

Annie Lennox had all the candles peeve, i pity the person who had to light and extinguish them!!

I think the problem is that they tend to go for popular singers (even if they haven't released anything for decades...) to reflect the show's mass appeal, and get it spectacularly wrong. I agree with fridgesoup that the Graham Norton bookers should help.

Although knowing the Strictly producers, they won't change, and the music break will be my time to put on the kettle/grab another bottle of wine(or gin, depending on how cringeworthy the guest is)

I would like to Cheryl Cole perform on SCD....not because I like her music but can you imagine the publicity SCD would get with her 'comeback' performance on it instead of X Factor
