I have to disagree with that move, certainly with all the cuts being made to BBC 3.

I think the sitcom pilot season is good, it sort of worked for Channel 4 so it'll be interesting whether it works for BBC One.

Thanks for that link, rzt. I suspect some of us TV industry geeks on here will be doing a lot of listening over the next day or two...
Plenty of goodies on the BBC Press Office site about all the commissions and announcements, too:http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre...dinburgh.shtml Particularly interested in the new Peter Moffat drama, The Village: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre.../village.shtml This one went into development quite some time ago, IIRC, but I'm pleased to see its being made. Sounds very ambitious - a sort of take of the German epic, Heimat - with a plot that'll take a long time to conclude if successful. Also, Fight for Life sounds interesting. Sort of Springwatch Plus, really, but at least its being done with the sort of scale thats often been lacking from BBC One - particularly pre-watershed. |

I read on Media Guardian that Luther has been renewed for a 3rd series, that makes me happy.

Fraud Squad did well on Friday, about 1m above my estimations. Saturday's eagerly anticipated overnights will be on here in about 20 to 30 minutes...

Speaking today at Edinburgh Television Festival, BBC One Controller, Danny Cohen announced The Village, an epic and emotional story of 20th century Britain seen through the life and times of one Derbyshire village. One man, Bert Middleton, lives across the entire hundred years. His life, from boyhood to extreme old age, provides the narrative backbone. His last great act of remembering is our way in to an examination of who we are and why. Written by award-winning writer Peter Moffat, over the course of the series the camera never leaves the village. Everything – great political events, upheavals in national identity, war and peace, ways of working, ways of being, how we lived, how we looked, how we died, what we ate, rules kept and rebellions made, sex, religion, class, the shaping of modern memory – refracted through the lives of the villagers and the village. Quote:
Written by Peter Moffat, the 6x60-minute series....
A lot to pack into six hours!!

Decent for TXF and Dr Who last night, the latter ought timeshift to 7.5m. As expected Will Young dropped like a rock from a great lead in. Let me be the first to say Big Brother drops to lowest figure of 1.8m and under 2.0m for first time last night.

All times are GMT. The time now is 04:20.

Plenty of goodies on the BBC Press Office site about all the commissions and announcements, too:
