Don't worry. Davina will save them from disaster next Saturday.
Channel 4 or Channel 5 ?

This is sadly predictable

The X Factor seems to re-generate better than Doctor Who

The only people worried by those ratings are Cheryl Cole's agent and maybe Glenn who was forecasting a post-Cowell apocalypse for ITV

And Will Young squashing Celebrity BB - who would have thought?

sorry but I cant let this go

talk to me when X-Factor has regenerated a further 9 times.

Besides no mater what the ratings say, Doctor Who was awesome last night, that would still be true even if it was only watched by 1 million.

Big Brother looks to be in trouble, if it's rating below 2m now, what will it be like when it is the normal series rather than the celebrity version?

Embarrasing for Epic Win, being beaten by the ITV National & Regional News!

John Bishop seems quite low as well, maybe airing in practically the same slot twice a week is damaging the initial rating.

Plus, its likely going on past form, to hit 8m in the officials, and if that trend carries on for the rest of the season, one of the most successful runs since it came back. I think their decision to split the season was a clever and calculated one.

Not quite an apocalypse, more like a decline of about a million. However, the TXF seems to have hit a plateau- not going up, not going down- but 10.6 million is still excellent in such a competitive market where a show is classed as a hit if it has 5 million viewers.
Anyway last night I was watching my favouirite channel, Vintage TV. Anyone know what the audience figures are fdr this?

No reason to be disappointed - DW now does extremely well on timeshift, this has been borne out by figures from S6 part1

Looking at the rest of BBC1s ratings for a saturday Dr Who is doing amazingly well.

It's not as if there is anything to watch before/after so many people are just dropping in to watch "Who" and then going elsewhere.

It's like sandwiching a nice piece of chicken between stale bread.

It's fine, it just usual for a Saturday rating to fall below 2m in the last 2 years. I mean, its unlikely that 1m completely dropped from Sally being evicted, her eviction received one of the highest summer series evictions since 2008... so, I doubt 1m were lost for good in the sace of 24 hours. They will be up to around 2.4m-2.5m tonight, I reckon.

I think the sitcom pilot season is good, it sort of worked for Channel 4 so it'll be interesting whether it works for BBC One.
Although I do think now with C4 it's kind of preventing them from taking risks. They announced "Chickens" as a new sitcom from The Inbetweeners guys about a year ago and then it turns out it's only a one-off pilot, as are a few more recent announcements of "new sitcoms". A pilot season every so often is a good idea (they really could do with a drama one), but at the moment I think C4 are playing a bit safe rather than taking the chance of commissioining a full series of new comedy.

Notice too this year Comedy Lab is airing on E4, immediately after Comedy Showcase on C4.

Very poor night for channel 4
Five not good to.
Any figures for the athletics yesterday morning. Hopefully fairly low I suspect the more who watched yesterdays car crash, the less who'll watch over the coming week.

Is that BB lowest rating ever?
Pretty sure it's gone lower (possibly as low as 1.2-1.4m IIRC, but I might be wrong). The Saturday edition is pointless as all it's main feature is the eviction people watched live the day before, hence it always rates poorly.

The mens' 100 metre final (Usain Bolt jogged through, Dwain Chambers disqualified for a false start) at the Athletics World Championships is on Channel 4 at 12.45pm.
Mo Farah goes for gold at 11.30am in the men's 10,000 metre final.

Decent figure for Doctor Who, I suppose we can't put too much importance on the overnights for it, given how it usually timeshifts. I was hoping for a bit closer to 7m though considering the promotion it's had and better timeslot than usual but all in all, it did fine and boosted BBC1's Saturday. Secret Fortune was up almost +10% compared to last week, while Casualty and John Bishop remained consistent. Epic Win isn't doing well though, considering it had a lead-in of almost 20%, it should've rated higher than 12%. As Danny Cohen said yesterday, that teatime slot has been a difficult one for them to fill recently, with pretty much only Total Wipeout doing a decent job. ASFF on ITV1 is doing well this series, this time last year it was rating in the mid 4's. I'm not quite sure why that 1m rise vs last year has come about. TXF held up really well, down about -4 to -6% compared to last week's figures which is one of the better retentions in recent years (last year it dropped over -10%). Low rating for Will Young's show - music specials post-TXF have usually managed at least 4m+ in the past.

Disappointing rating for Celebrity Big Brother. Before the series began, I did think Saturday episodes would dip slightly below 2m, but considering how last Saturday's episode rated as well as how it's been holding up the rest of the week, I was expecting another 2m+ figure. Last week, the Sunday episode rated worse than Saturday's so I'm not even sure if it'll bounce back too much tonight. Law & Order SVU also posted a low figure, the smallest audience of its run. Both of them will probably rate even lower next week as they're at later times. Maybe it would be a wise idea not to have Saturday episodes during the normal BB because if it's dipping to 1.8m now, I can see it down to ~1.2m when the normal run begins, especially when episodes are airing even later after 10pm when TXF goes to live episodes.

As lazy as it is I do think the BBC should just stick something like My Family repeats in that 5.30pm slot. After all for most of the 90s in the House Party/Generation Game era it was usually Dads Army repeats at 5.30pm - and occassionally "Stay Tooned" IIRC.

ITV have pretty much given up now commissioning new shows pre-7pm on Saturday nights apart from You've Been Framed so there isn't much reason for the BBC to commission for the 5.30pm slot IMO.

Maybe they should just run Final Score on BBC1 up to the news at 5.40ish.

And inaccurate, not just about how 'explicit' it was but about how it can be easily accessed by youngsters on the iplayer. Its categorised as Age 16+. So parental locks should block it.

Why do the BSI insist on bringing Doctor Who back on key holiday weekends, when millions of viewers arent here...?

In spite of the BBC's best efforts, an official 7m+ rating won't be so bad, but it could have done better returning a week later, even if it would have been up against the "Britain's Got You Bet" launch.

Yes, watching BBC1 outrating ITV with cartoons was always entertaining...

Bring back The Pink Panther Show
....the good old days!! In those days Doctor Who was done and dusted before the early evening's main event, Dixon of Dock Green came on.

Primetime was for US imports.

Clearly 10.6 million managed to get back just 50 minutes later.

What decline? It was a record high for a second audition show. There was no decline, just a rise.

BBC viewers are more likely to go on holiday. Same way they are more likely to go out on Fridays so EE loses viewers but Corrie does not.

You think i'm joking....?
