Or in your case, perhaps there might be some more sub-Channel Five ratings...
yes. I tried to watch that David Jason Great Escape show last night but couldnt quite work out the point of it. TV was dire last night in primetime across all channels really.

You could be right. With the Nile repeat, the random David Jason show and an episode of Penn and Teller that hardly anyone knew was on, ITV might have had a dire night last night.

CBB seems to have steadied around 2 million, again this is excellent for Channel 5 ands more proof it was a sensible buy for them. Also one myth has been exploded about the boss of reality: two thirds of its viewers aren't teenagers and twenty somethings. Anyone got figures for over 65s?

It certainly was a great escape for David.

They could have sent him on a trip to ratings disaster down the Nile instead...

(I do expect this will have rated ok though, and noticably dented Countryfile - Jason is still a draw, hence the prime slot and name above the title)

surely that depends on how much its costing them? No point pay £60M for a show that delivers 2m a night. They could have bought Show Me The Funny? or Born To Shine for a bit less that £60M

Strangest ratings request of the day! It only had 3.8% in that demo, not a high rater with the 65+.

all change from next Saturday. Better use up your quips file this week as you will need your excuses folder from Sunday morning onwards

Perhaps. But then these "ITV super weeks" dotted throughout the year don't seem to deliver complete annihilation to all the other networks any more. I suspect BBC1 will hold up.

And what if "Ant and Dec's Britain's Got You Bet" is a flop?

(I don't expect it will be though. All the right buttons in the ITV-Cowell Industries light entertainment sausage factory have been pressed so far)

of course there are people who wont watch ITV1 regardless of what they show - I think I know of one individual

Of course it could flop. Nobody knows for sure. Thats the nature of risk taking with a new show as opposed to digging up something old.

Any figures for the athletics yesterday morning. Hopefully fairly low I suspect the more who watched yesterdays car crash, the less who'll watch over the coming week.
Saturday 27th August:

10:30-15:10: World Athletics: 520k (5.7%)
* peak: 842k at 14.20

About double the audience C4 had in the same slot the previous Saturday, but I guess far more costly.

Don't forget Broadcast and MG are unlikely to update with it being a Bank Holiday today, hopefully DS updates at some point today.

Big rating for Page Eight on BBC2 last night: 3.9m inc HD.

Probably came second in its slot, even beating ITV1.

Your hope is commendable, but I don't share it. There isn't even a full roundup for Saturday yet.

Not sure how the BBC is getting these films to screen so quickly but a very good rating for it. Well scheduled before a Bank Holiday after BBC Two's current highest rated show of the week.

BBC News piece on the return of Ab Fab - it's a 3 part special, not a one off, and "later this year". So not necessarily at Christmas.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-14700772

The final part is set at the Olympics, but I would assume is still set to air "later this year" with the other two.
Joanna has previously said the first two will be shown at Christmas, and the third at the time of the Olympics (without specifically mentioning that it would have anything to do with it- now we know it does)

So I expect that will be the case.

Must hit best among the 35-44 age group as a lot people I know who watch BB seem to be in this age group. Still not knocking the show and certainly it is a steady hit for Channel 5 in the way Neighbours is,

As regards super weeks, you'll never get one station enjoying complete domination as you would with BBC1 over Christmas week in the seventies or when ITV ran the Winds of War in 1983. However, should ITV1 run a massive Coronation St storyline, such as the Rovers Return blowing up, in the week of TXF final, then this would be a super week with 14 million viewers guaranteed.

I could be wrong, but I think Page 8 was BBC2's own commission, as opposed to the other recent BBC Films co-productions we've been seeing there: Glorious 39, The Duchess. etc.

But yes, it did fantastically well in that Sunday night slot. Moving Dragon's Den to 8pm really has allowed them to push large audiences towards a really impressive run of programmes at 9. I think they came under pressure from the Trust last year to try and make much more of the BBC Films premieres - and they certainly seem to be doing that.

Channel 5 yesterday:

12:00 Celebrity Big Brother (rpt): 0.40m (4.0%)
13:00 The Bachelor (rpt): 0.26m (2.0%)
14:00 The Bounty Hunter: 0.49m (4.1%)
15:35 Riders of Vengeance: 0.78m (6.1%)
17:05 5 News Weekend with Julian Druker: 0.86m (5.8%)
17:10 Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle: 0.96m (5.6%)
19:10 The Da Vinci Code: 2.24m (10.2%)
*5 minute peak: 2.65m (12.5%).
*16-34 demo: 506,000 (12.8%).

22:00 Celebrity Big Brother: 2.08m (10.3%)
*5 minute peak: 2.39m (11.5%).
*16-34 demo: 662,000 (16.6%).

23:00 Extraordinary People (rpt): 0.54m (4.4%)
interesting to see CelebBB do so well on its lunchtime repeat...if you add in the 'Demand Five' viewers it seems to be keeping the same audience interested each day.

That's a brilliant rating. I expected it to do well, but more like 3m than 4m.

With such a stellar cast, and an obvious draw for viewers, I wonder if this should have been on BBC1?

And no competition, TV was dull last night!

One of the highest ever audiences tuned in to catch-up on the day's football news with last night's Match of the Day on BBC One.

Viewers peaked at 5.1 million with an average of 4.1 million.

David Jason 'Great Escape' got 2.1m.

1.7m for Lumley's "Nile"

1.9m for Penn & Teller

(not sure if these include +1)

Bonnet de douche, Rodney!

That Channel of the Year Award is certainly the comic highlight of this summer!
