Rzt,
Do you have any ratings for Lunch with Gino and Mel, how has it been doing, could you find out for me?? Cheers ![]() 15/8: 812k (11.7%) 16/8: 941k (12.2%) 17/8: 824k (12.2%) 18/8: 944k (12.4%) 19/8: 886k (12.7%) 22/8: 846k (11.4%) 23/8: 948k (12.0%) 24/8: 924k (12.7%) 25/8: no data 26/8: 942k (11.8%) I'm not really too sure how it compares to the ratings ITV1 usually get in that slot most year round or what they would've been expecting. I do know though that Lunch with Gino and Mel has generally rated about the same as how Loose Women was rating in that slot in the couple of weeks before it. In the two weeks before Lunch with Gino and Mel launched, Loose Women averaged: 25/7: 932k (13.1%) 26/7: 872k (12.4%) 27/7: 751k (11.3%) 28/7: 861k (13.0%) 29/7: 930k (13.2%) 01/8: 945k (12.2%) 02/8: no data 03/8: 737k (10.8%) 04/8: 1.05m (12.2%) 05/8: no data Loose Women seemed to be a bit more erratic, going down into the 700s one episode but back up to 1m's the following episode. I guess it might be because some people tuned in depending on who the panellists were each day. |

I imagine Channel 4 will try and keep hold of DOND but gameshows haven't done well for Channel 5 as they tried them at 6.30pm although they rated better than OKTV does. Maybe a daily factual show like the ones at 7.30pm would work and with product placement and AFP would be cheap to produce and bring in better ratings.
Do you remember this Channel 5 daytime classic? ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJPoH9bbcrM Lots of familiar faces in that clip. It's like a who's who of the BBC's current biggest primetime stars! |

Maybe, but I think there could be too much factual in the schedule at times. I would like to see more entertainment formats now CBB has launched successfully.

I do wonder how a fly on the wall similar to 24 Hours in A&E would do on Channel 5, they have the cops shows like Police Interceptors but that's more like Traffic Cops. |

Dancc, if you have the figures there, may I ask what the RPG average is for Doctor Who and the two Red or Black shows on Saturday?
I know the RPG tends to be quite close to actual so am interested to see the averages.

ITV Press Centre has DCI Banks down as starting on Friday 16th September at 9pm. A surprising move which suggests that ITV are realising that the entertainment stuff isn't really working there.

Interesting to see how the other Channel 5 channels were doing during the CBB launch. Pretty well it seems. That is good news for them as it means the non-CBB audience are finding alternatives on the Channel 5 network rather than going elsewhere...

Meanwhile E4 has my daily dose of vintage How I Met Your Mother at 7.30pm, with repeats of Scrubs, and the Comedy Lab coming up this Friday. In fact, I only watch Channel 5 for Big Brother, and even that isn't as good as last year. |

Dragons' Den had 3.01m (13.3%) including HD.
A little disappointing considering where it was a few weeks ago but still a good rating. It's a shame it's been moved to 8pm as it could probably do 3.5-4m at 9pm, but I get that they did it to boost the 9pm dramas. I hope they move it back to 9pm soon though as otherwise it'll end up clashing with The X Factor which would dent it and that'd be a shame. Not that it'll affect its renewal prospects though as this is only the first year of a 3 year deal signed late last year so it's guaranteed another 2 series after this one.Quote:
Scott & Bailey could be ready for Spring as filming will take place between late-October to February so it could be shown in April/May, but I think you're right that they'll leave it for the summer as they know it can perform well at that time of the year. I'm not too sure about Monroe, which was struggling a little towards the end of the series, whether it could cope in the summer especially with a few episodes up against the Olympics. Maybe it could get 4-4.5m in the overnights, which they could regard as respectable for the time of the year. I agree with your schedule on the whole though. It's got the mix between new drama, repeated drama, factual and light entertainment just right and that schedule would definitely rated better than the current summer one. If ITV don't want to play some established drama series during the summer, I don't see why they don't air some 3-part serials instead, which if they flop won't matter too much compared to if a full 6/8 part drama series flopped.
Monroe could potentially struggle in the Summer, but if they aren't filming until next year it won't be ready for the Spring and they only seem to want big performers in the Autumn so there might not be room for it, so it might have to go in the Summer. I like your 3 part thriller idea. They could run a thriller inbetween Euro 2012 and the Olympics, run repeats for 2 weeks against the Olympics and start Monroe in August the week after the Olympics end, thus avoiding a clash. |

Edit: I wonder if they'd take a week off during the SCD launch night. Unusual I know, but I think something like DCI Banks would be really badly damaged going up against the launch of a big show with a similarly elderly skewing demographic. They could show the first story over 2 weeks, take a week break, whilst meanwhile promoting the next story which would begin the week after the SCD launch. |

There is really not much on the other Channel 5 channels; it's just repeats of shows we've already seen plus the in my opinion boring CSI, NCIS, CISN, NSCI etc. programmes on loop.
5* is the weak link and compared to the likes of E4 and ITV2 its ratings are embarrassing. |

A bank holiday probably isn't the best day to measure this, but how does Five's typical 'breakfast time' share compare to Channel 4. (I presume BBC2 normally beats Channel 5)

ITV need to be actively looking for a good comedy or drama for David Jason to star in, not getting him to do pointless filler documentaries. It's pretty poor that a national treasure like him isn't in a regular comedy or drama anymore (I know he's got The Royal Bodyguard coming up, but that's one 6 x 30 minute sitcom, he could do something for ITV as well).

As expected for Doc Martin, then. I'm sure it'll do brilliantly there. rzt said yesterday that it seems Celebrity Masterchef is down for Mondays on BBC One at the moment too. It would make sense if that was the revamped 9pm version - a steady, non-scripted, and surprisingly younger-skewing alternative to an big ITV drama.
Doc Martin needs to be delivering 10m a week there, and surely it will do with Masterchef Celebrity as competition. Yes? |
