But crimes are always being commited. Its hardly them clearly a drama on mass rioting is it? Plus its probably the only thing they have which is 2 hours long

Don't know when its on, but Broadcast reporting that Tonight will be live for the first time with a riot special. Any subscribers have the full details?

Its about time ITV are breaking into their schedules, they need to quickly catch up, their coverage hasn't been good at all and they have just stuck to alloted news bulletin times when its clearly a massive and urgent story. Their ratings are awful at the minute so theres no excuse to not do PSB duties.

I have no idea why they are running a repeat of 60 Minute Makeover instead of rolling news coverage for an hour or so, and I also think that regions containing other cities affected e.g. Liverpool and Bristol should have stayed on air for a while after 2pm. The same goes for BBC1 too, their regional news should be on air in certain places.

They'll probably bury Tonight up against Eastenders but they should drop Cops With Cameras, move Homes From Hell to 8pm and have a 2 hour block of Tonight (9-10pm) and News at Ten (10-11pm).

Edit: Broadcast is claiming Tonight will air at 7.30pm tomorrow which seems a bit late really.

What are you talking about? I wasn't getting arsey, I was trying to answer your question with the relevant links to the articles. Never mind, next time I just won't bother

Besides, I just don't understand why you didn't have a look at the reported ratings yourself? You're well aware that DS has a dedicated ratings section so literally, a couple of clicks of the mouse button to the DS article would've given you the answer.

The article says:
Quote:
“ITV1 is to broadcast its current affairs strand Tonight live for the first time as it examines the quickly evolving UK riots.

The show has been pulled forward from its usual Thursday night home and will help replace ITV1’s coverage of an England v Netherlands football match, which has been cancelled as a result of the unrest.

Tonight will be presented by Julie Etchingham and will include contributions from those close to the situation, as well as pre-prepared VT inserts.

ITV insiders have said it will be the first time the current affairs programme has been broadcast live since it launched in 1998.

The fast-turnaround show was ordered by Ian Squires, ITV’s controller of operations and current affairs, and will be produced by ITV Studios. Alexander Gardiner is the executive producer.

Tonight will air from 7.30pm to 8pm and will be followed by a repeat of drama Lewis. It comes after the England v Netherlands friendly was cancelled due to the violence in London in recent days.”

This Morning also had the distraction of their usual technical ineptitude,

Twice they tried talking to an eye witness to the riots. But he clearly could not hear the studio and kept talking over the hosts who in the end just cut him off.

They had similar problems when they later tried to talk to Alan (Lord) Sugar about his solution to the riots. Though this time when they returned - after a few minutes asking people how many degrees were in a right angle via Alison Hammond pretending to be a banker - they did get hold of Lord S.

So This Morning did cover the riots quite a bit, Indeed their singing guest (Randy Crawford) was even quizzed about it and Eammon Holmes rather cryptically dedicated her song to the rioters in hope it might help.

I imagine the BBC never did anything like that unless they are planning to wheel out John Barrowman in a special from the streets of London tonight.

Did they Six O'Clock News get 6m? Thought it was 4.8m

If you can manage to go on this thread and make posts on your phone, I'm sure you're capable of clicking on 'TV' up above and then 'TV Ratings' to find the article which would answer your question. Never mind

moving away from the riots pleased to read that Mock the Week has both a return date and a new regular, just what the show needs.

Interesting that they state that there'll be extra audition shows. Usually there's 6 audition shows, maybe they'll increase that to eight with the last few episodes of the auditions stage on Sundays as well as Saturdays?

Yes, Cher Lloyd and Gino di Campo will discuss the root causes and long term implications of the violence.

They really are trying to maximise their ad revenue from it aren't they?

We are seeing a change now regarding the TV schedules

Covering the riots themselves with extra programmes seems to be a no go area but running extra debates/aftermath programmes etc is ok and are now being scheduled.
