Lol hardly a massive victory for Corrie despite DS running with the headline that EE couldn't overtake Corrie despite a big episode. Talk about splitting hairs.

And VERY strange not to have the EE BBC3 rpt mentioned. What on earth is going on at DS HQ?

I also think it's worth remembering that the EE episode wasn't promoted at all. In fact the BBC only released two lines of info about it and nothing else.

Always the way. People have dismissed the fact it's up by quite a bit on the last 2 Fridays and it's right behind first Corrie.
The episode wasn't promoted or Hyped up in anyway.

I expect DS will report the BBC 3 repeat rating sometime next year. It seems they are behind with all soap news these days anyway

The BBC are running trailers for up and coming storylines but it doesn't state when these storylines actually take place

Yes it was.
Critcs actually praised it 'best episode of the year' 'this episode was faultless' 'this episode could have been an Classic EastEnders xmas special'

That Guy in the Mirror who usually slates EastEnders also praised it and said the acting and writing was on fine form
and he's also praised the up and coming week

I agree that crime drama does best in that slot, and for several years ITV1 were able to more often than not win the night with repeats of Frost, Midsomer Murders, Poirot etc. The problem is that they can't do that anymore because their pipeline of high-rating crime drama has more or less dried up, and the older programmes have been repeated to death on both the main channel and ITV3.

Peter Fincham said the way forward was going to be "entertainment", but that department has churned out flop after flop. So he's left with Factual, which is fair enough if the subject is in tune with the audience mood on a Friday night. But depressing "true crime" stories?

Let me give you a recap of last night's tale: a young Manchester schoolboy is abducted and murdered by a bus driver, who then poses as one of the search party, befriend's the kid's mum and ends up becoming her boyfriend. He also keeps returning to the scene of the murder to dig up the kid's body parts in order to keep them as trophies.

I'd say that's 'grisly'. But, as you point out, maybe that's something to do with me.

It isnt a victory as more people watched Eastenders on the night. It does annoy me how people will say that Corrie beat EE but disregard the fact that the BBC3 showing takes away a good chunk of the 7:30/8:00pm audience.

Just been looking at the latest BB news. At first I thought c5 were doing a good job but already they seem to be making it really trashy.

please let us not have the EastEnders vs Corrie, should we count BBC 3 or not debate?

And the fact corrie lost some viewers from the first episode making EastEnders beat it

Nothing trashy about the house. It looks great, possibly even one of the best designed in the show's history.

Brian's interviews are odds - going on about sex and nudity as what we'll see in BB12 (as if) and then saying he doesn't want to see it. Kind of highlights how dirty Desmond might be pushing the show in a direction it doesn't want to go.

Life was so much simpler in the olden days - 3 tv channels (4 from 1982), no video recorders - you watched a show live and the ratings reflected the viewing figures. Of course BARB then decided to include repeats and omnibus editions that were often shown in the same week. If you look at BARB ratings from the 90's this happened with Eastenders, Neighbours, The Simpsons, HIGNFY, Buffy, Home and Away & Red Dwarf to name just 7.

BARB ratings are more accurate now - maybe what ought be done for overnights is include HD/+1/PVR viewing and any showings up until 2am that night (I believe this is the overnight cut off time.)

Yet again as soon as anybody mentions EastEnders, Corrie gets mentioned at the same time. Childish 'My soap's better than your soap' again

When did the benchmark of a good EastEnders episode be whether it beat Coronation Street or not? What would happen if the 'big episode' was on a Tuesday?

Is it me or does Dan big up so called massive episodes of EE that were the 'best ever' at least once a month?

to be fair EE fans are starting to forget what a good episode looks like, or are rushing to find a way to declare what is currently on screen "good"

I'm sorry Robbie but you went way too far there. Some of the stuff in that rant was just personal and nasty and there was no need for it whatsoever. Rzt was defending himself after you branded him a 'stalker' for some unknown reason and you decided to lash out in quite a childish way. I hope you re-read some of the things you wrote earlier and realise that you overstepped the mark.

“- but so what? This isn't "your" thread, and you have no right to act as its moral guardian or policeman. Who really cares what you think anyway?

- then he can skip over it without having to pollute his tiny mind by seeing any of my comments or views.”

These particular snippets were particularly uncalled for. I don't recall rzt ever claiming to be a policeman of the forum, but what I will say is that he does contribute a huge amount to it and this thread would be much poorer without him, and I would suggest that many people on the thread do 'care' what he thinks about some of the topics discussed on here. The 'tiny mind' remark meanwhile was just pathetic and once again completely uncalled for.

Nobody is saying that you should stop posting, or that you should change the tone of your posts, but descending into personal insults directed at another forum member isn't the way forward and, as I said earlier in my post, I hope you read your post again and realise that some of your comments were unnecessary and overstepped the mark.

Back on topic, I wonder if Law & Order will get a boost tomorrow night as BBC1 are starting their 9pm hour programme at 9pm not 8:30pm, and it is factual not a drama repeat. Also it won't be against Dragons Den, which shifts to 8pm. Therefore I think it should get at least 4.5m, if not something closer to 5m. It's particularly important as without spoiling anything the series ends on a cliffhanger and the first episode of the next series could be dented if the cliffhanger isn't seen by enough people.

Not at all.
It was a a big episode and im comparing it to corrie or anything of the sort i was just making a point that the fact the ratings are up on past 2 Fridays and it rated close to corrie (meaning it had caught up)
That was all

Last nights episode was very similar to the 'big' xmas day 2007 one in the respect it featured the Brannings and was an Affair reveal 'and cancer storyline'
And they used the classic 'Full focus on 1 storyline' thing they do so well.
Plus it was written by simon ashdown (their best writer who has written alot of the big stuff 'Enders LIVE' for example)

I've read in a few places that the last ever episode of My Family will be the Christmas Special.
According to TV guides yesterday's episode was 8/11
Can anyone confirm this?

Did they show the missed episode due to Tennis?

I thought it was a two-year deal?

A few other interesting quotes...

Quote:

Quote:
“Ford, a former Channel 4 executive, said: "Why would they put a movie premiere on Wednesday night if it wasn't to try and affect our ratings? I'm not worried about what they do because I've got Big Brother.”

Quote:
“Ford believes the mogul's chequebook is helping to attract celebrities. "Richard has always said to me: 'If the channel needs something and you believe in it, come and tell me. And if I believe in it as well, we'll get it.' He's very enthusiastic about the show."”

It is, although I suspect there's an option in the contract for a further three years if the show works out well for C5 .
