I suppose you'd have left it where it was and let it lose 1m+ viewers up against Twilight just so that the billboards were correct instead of a single day out?

Just curious. I think they acted in the best interests of the show, even if it's created a bit of embarrassment.
Well I didn't realise why they said Wednesday until yesterday, but I just think it's not very good to get something like that wrong for the launch. I'm sure it won't affect it too much that the date it incorrect, it just make them look stupid! Oh well they'll be coming down soon anyway.

Wait, was Unforgiven that one-off drama about child abduction that was shown quite a few years back? Or am I thinking of something else.

When the ratings come out, if someone could release 5* ratings for that BB related Silent Library show (was a rather random show)

I'd be surprised if SPOTY moved so close to Christmas. Surely a lot of star names and many of those involved in producing and staging the show will have gone away for the break by then?

surely by now the venue etc will have been confirmed too?
SPOTY is at Media City in Salford this year. Presumably due to BBC sports continued migration up to Salford, [MOTD moves in November] there is no arena show this year.

Surely those involved in producing and staging the show will have gone away for the break by then?
They ran strictly live on DEC 23rd a few years ago, so I doubt thats a problem.

Mrs Brown's Boys gets a repeat run at 11:05pm from Friday 2nd.
Hopefully that means the new series will begin on Friday 14th October at 9:30pm.
Why would the BBC run 2 series in the one year? The new series doesn't start filming until late September [like last year] anyway.

You'd think that. But in the corridors of power some are quite funny about it. But then the ratings come in and they have to shut up.
Source?? Seems to be an Internet Myth like the BBC and ITV take turns in deciding the Christmas Day schedule.

It's this thing, a three parter -
http://www.itv.com/Drama/contemporar...n/default.html

This was a daft thing to repeat, though, something like this is never going to have much repeat value because if you weren't interested enough to watch it and stick with the three parts last time, you won't be bothered with it the second time.

The only drama repeats that work are the ones where you can get a complete story in one programme - something like New Tricks or Frost or something. People just aren't committed to watching a repeated serial. This is why ITV3 does so well, I know when it started they said they wouldn't go for continuing series because they knew that they would get a huge floating audience, the kind of viewer who's idly flicking around looking for some decent drama to pass an hour.

"The new series will return to BBC One later this year."

Given that its a studio based single camera drama (and those that watched Series 1 will know that errors are left in) meaning that the turn around from filming to airing will be quite quick.

[quote=Charnham;51865188]As for The One Show, yes it does seem to be struggling to recapture its former glory, maybe if they had hired Matt Baker straight away it might be doing a little better.

QUOTE]

It gave me quite a shock to see the words "The One Show" and "former glory" used in the same sentence.

the programme with or without the grump and the WAG is cheap and ramshackle.

That grovelling way the evenings Z List "celebrity" is greeted with a round of appaluse from the simpering studio staff (there is no audience) , that bald-headed bloke Dominic Littlewood like an extra from Eastenders (most of the budget goes on making up his head), in early days John Sargeant roaming round on a lawnmower, to show nepotism rules in TV land Peter Snow's son. Ugh - the bargain basement of TV. Frankly if this is the best the BBC can do they should show the test card for half an hour at 7pm. It would be more entertaining.

End of rant

Another solid night for BBC1 which for sure keeps the critics quiet. ITV1 as a commercial channel has to decide whether to chase viewers, I think as the license fee recipient BBC ought be aiming for highest possible ratings on its flagship channel.

Always wary of believing newspaper reports (!) but it said in The Times yesterday (hardcopy) that SPOTY has been moved much nearer to Christmas so that Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy can attend.

No idea whether that is the real reason but it could make sense bearing in mind they are 1st and 2nd favourites for SPOTY, miles ahead of everyone else.

So the BBC wouldn't want it to clash with a tournament they were both playing in.

Not surprised Unforgiven flopped, even though it was a repeat. It was a strange choice of repeat & it would have been better to choose something more light hearted. I guess Cops With Cameras isn't doing too badly considering it's a repeat of a cheap show anyway, but the whole schedule is still a flop. Quite shocking too that CWC is beating most of the other 9pm slots.

Not quite sure how DIY:SOS is so high-close to 6m in a 9pm slot for what it is is fantastic.

ITV1 in a cut throat market now has to maximise audiences or in the summer lull has to make cheap programmes that can still turn a profit. There is no way now they could revive World in Action and run it against Panorama as most of the people that want current affairs on a Monday night will watch Panorama. Also Coronation St has become so well established in this slot that I can't see ITV1 replacing it: 8 million viewers is something they can't afford to lose.
However, the multi channel commercial world has diminished Channel 4 and ITV and led to them showing some appalling shows that they wouldn't have touched 20 years ago. Yet on commercial grounds a reality show makes more sense than trying an expensive drama that could flop.

Not as high a rating premiere as I expected for Seven Dwarves but still very much in hit territory. Channel 4 seem to be having a good year in terms of factual entertainment.

CSI: Miami is a bit low this season. At least it was only just behind ITV1 with their repeat. And the CSI: Vegas rerun provided strong retention in the 10pm hour for its last outing in that slot for a while.

Isn't Red or Black apparently launching on that evening too? Might mean that Jonathan Ross's show won't have an XF lead-in for the first couple of weeks as I'm guessing RoB is taking the post-XF slot.

Feels like a throwback to the 1990's to see a show like DIY: SOS doing so well. Outperforming Holby, no less, which is always a sign of success in that Tuesday 9pm slot. Of course the lack of opposition must help, but there's still something appealing about it - you just don't get 5.5m by default in this day and age.

Aside from another night-to-forget for ITV1, there'll be a couple of relatively pleasing ratings in there for the other channels. Seven Dwarves did very well (as I had been expecting given the amount of promotion its been getting) while the Great British Bake Off is another solid hit for BBC Two in that casual lifestyle entertainment genre they seem to specialise in.
