There is no way now they could revive World in Action and run it against Panorama as most of the people that want current affairs on a Monday night will watch Panorama.

Isn't Red or Black apparently launching on that evening too? Might mean that Jonathan Ross's show won't have an XF lead-in for the first couple of weeks as I'm guessing RoB is taking the post-XF slot.
X Factor is meant to be having 'extra' audition shows. It currently has six. Having seven just sounds odd, so I suspect they'll have eight. The eight being on: Ep 1 - 20th August Ep 2 - 27th August Ep 3/4 - 3rd/4th September Ep 5/6 - 10th/11th September Ep 7/8 - 17th/18th September With Red and Black on at 21:00 on the 3rd and 10th and Downton Abbey as expected on 17th September. Means that Red or Black gets a X Factor or Corrie lead-in every night and Ross gets an X Factor lead-in so everyone wins. There is however (still!) the problem of the England game on Tuesday 6th September.... I'm guessing they may have to on that day do:19:00 - Coronation Street 19:30 - Football 21:45 - Red or Black? 23:00 - ITV News Because Red or Black is being promoted as 'seven consecutive nights'. Plus, its odd having an England game kick off at 7:45pm on ITV1, suggesting that Red or Black will air afterwards. |

Dubai is the last event of the golf year which is on the w/e of Dec 8th.
However there can be unofficial invitation events after that so I wouldn't 100% rule out the accuracy of the story. |

Yeah, that does seem likely to happen. Only piece of the jigsaw is that drama Appropriate Adult (2 x 90 minute episodes) is supposed to be starting sometime that week or the next as the DVD release date is 12th September and ITV Pictures publicity has already released images of it, indicating it's airing in that period. But I can't see how that'll fit in.
![]() Do we know if Red or Black is two separate shows for definite? The only thing we definitely know for that week is that Coronation Street is on after the watershed. If Appropriate Adult is also airing that week (and based on the title it sounds like a 9pm drama!) then we can guarantee News at Ten will definitely not be on at 10pm that week, I don't think that would be possible. Surely this maybe their line-up for one day, as I assume Appropriate Adult will be over 2 nights? 19:00 - Emmerdale 19:30 - Red or Black? 21:00 - Coronation Street 21:30 - Appropriate Adult 23:00 - ITV News |

Yes, fair point, must confess I hadn't bothered to check - Dubai ends on Sun 11th Dec.

Not definitely, but the ITV Media website a month ago said each night they would have one 60-minute show and one 30-minute show. I guess plans might've changed since then, but that same site was correct about Popstar To Operastar having separate results and other things too. I don't get understand they don't just have one 90-minute show though, as it's not the wisest idea potentially putting a new programme up against EastEnders some days. Once a show is well established like BGT, they can perhaps do it (and even then, EE dents BGT's ratings) but for a brand new show, it's not a wise move.

Given the trend started for using that Americanism in the UK by (All New) Total Wipeout then maybe Millionaire should now be retitled All New (with the same old) Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Yep, the lineup could be something like that, with All Star Family Fortunes at 7pm. However I did read previously that RoB episodes would be 90-minutes each (although they might've changed their minds since then) so Ross might be beginning at 10.30pm.

I know Red or Black's start time is variable but I've done it like that so that it avoids a clash with EE on the Thursday and has a half hour headstart on the Monday and Friday, whilst keeping the X Factor lead in on the Saturdays. There is one extra half hour of each soap but with Corrie being a big week there probably will be six episodes and I think Emmerdale is still an episode down from BGT week (not 100% on that though). I can't really see any other way of doing it without throwing something to the lions. |

ITV1 in a cut throat market now has to maximise audiences or in the summer lull has to make cheap programmes that can still turn a profit. There is no way now they could revive World in Action and run it against Panorama as most of the people that want current affairs on a Monday night will watch Panorama. Also Coronation St has become so well established in this slot that I can't see ITV1 replacing it: 8 million viewers is something they can't afford to lose.
However, the multi channel commercial world has diminished Channel 4 and ITV and led to them showing some appalling shows that they wouldn't have touched 20 years ago. Yet on commercial grounds a reality show makes more sense than trying an expensive drama that could flop. It's a recognised brand, and if money is used to create quality half-hour documentaries about world and domestic issues, without presenter and with just narration, viewers will stick with it. |

When ITV aired the Charles & Diana wedding 30th retrospective on the actual day, July 29th, everyone was bitching that it should have been run in April.
Now when ITV dont show a 9/11 doc on the actual date, everyone is complaining. Make your ****ing minds up folks! My worry about the doc (having read the programme information) is that it doesn't seem to be offering anything new - just an "hour by hour story of the day". Haven't we seen all that a million times before? Shouldn't they be providing a fresh new angle, as C4 did with "The Falling Man" a few years ago? If they're just giving a straight and well-worn account, I can't see that many people tuning in, especially as it's an hour and a half long. |

I have no problem with them running their 9/11 doc before the anniversary....it makes good sense to get in there before everyone else.

Shame that ITV don't seem to want to create anything a little bit original anymore. Channel 4 have always come up trumps with 9/11 coverage - I seem to remember their news coverage in 2001 was second to none. |

They seem to have a lot of stuff for that week. I didn't expect Jonathan Ross to start until 17th September and I thought Appropriate Adult would air over the Bank Holiday weekend. My guess is:

I hate it when long-duration entertainment shows are stripped across primetime on BBC One or ITV1. I blame Millionaire. Since then, we've had all sorts of stuff: Soapstar Superstar, Just the Two of Us, Only Fools on Horses, Got Talent, Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, Poker Face and now Red or Black. It's unimaginative scheduling and it pushes genres out of primetime far more than any soap manages to.
For that reason, I hope Red or Black in an almighty turkey! ![]() If it's a success, it'll be clogging up the schedules for a few weeks (or fortnights ) a year. |

I always think DIY:SOS is an over preformer.
Ive seen some Nick Knowes bashing in my times, but he appears to have two hit shows at the moment, DIY:SOS and the Lottery format Secert Fortume. The BBC had best watch out, ITV will be calling soon

Wouldn't mind seeing Nick Knowles moving to ITV tbh, could get a great 5PM quiz show started!
Secret Fortune is okay but it gets old fast just like Million Pound Drop. TV quiz shows try to be too clever these days and it gets boring very quickly. |

Reviving World in Action would be a huge success, if given the 8pm slot between the two Coronation Streets.
It's a recognised brand, and if money is used to create quality half-hour documentaries about world and domestic issues, without presenter and with just narration, viewers will stick with it. How do you explain Panorama, which rates better when it is a more accessable consumer type issue but rates badly when covering a heavy story? |

Previously TXF had eight hours of auditions - 2 x 90 min and 4 x 75 min, which included 26 interan ad breaks. If they just ran it as eight hour-long shows they'd lose 2 ad breaks, but extending the first and last to 75 minutes compensates for that. Quote:

Indeed it's very rare nowadays to actually learn anything you didn't already know from an episode of Tonight or Panorama. |

Considering other ITV1 ratings in the slot recent, and some of their figures at the weekend, did it really bomb though. Would be interesting to know if a drama repeat does indeed cost less than cheap factual.

I'm guessing they may have to on that day do:
