5* ratings? Are there any?
22:00- Silent Library: BB Special (5*): 60,000 (0.3%) Basically, in line with how the rest of the series has rated. |

I can't help but wonder what the reaction would be if the Big Brother launch bombed with only 2 million to 2.5 million...

Press Office just updated.
George Gently and Natures Miracle Babies are the highlights at the moment. |

No doubt George Gently will be on Sunday and will be used by BBC1 against Red and Black. Tring to destroy it at birth no doubt.

I don't know if it may affect Big Brother, but the forecast over Hertfordshire tonight looks pretty horrendous to say the least.

I'm told Body Farm is still being edited, and needs another week or two before it'd be ready, so George it is...

I'm really curious to see how well/badly Red and Black does. On paper it sounds horrendous, like that awful Celbrity Hijack thing on Channel 4 earlier in the year. Hard to tell until you've seen it I guess.

I was expecting 3 million for Twilight so too high, but like has been said its demographic is more likely to see it in the cinema or watch it on DVD, or on Sky, than to wait for it to be on TV, its only going to pick up people thinking "this Twilight thing is everywhere, might as well give a shot"
I dont think the OKTV! ratings mean much, Big Brother has not launched yet, so people wouldnt think to watch for that reason, that reminds me, is it BB host Brian who does the voice over on OK! magazine ads? If so that is pretty impressive brand syngery from Desmond. |

I don't think OK:TV is a good indicator at all. Even if it got 0.4m that would mean it's doubling its audience. I think we should just wait for tonight. I'd say below 3m is concerning, 3-3.5m is OK, 3.5-4m is good and anything above 4m is a bonus really.
Lewis seems slightly down, but a strong audience for Who again. |

Turns out C4 have made a mess of Twilight. What could have been a great figure (for C4 standards) has become a medicore rating that many other less anticipated films have achieved, just to try and get one up on Big Brother and C5.
Jay Hunt and George Dixon - still keeping up the good work. |

The rest test of this series is how many 16-34 viewers its bringing to Channel 5.
If they can be in the top 3 shows in that demo every night they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. They've already signed a promotional deal with Dominoes which could include product placement and they've sold the ads during tonight's show for £35k, which by my calculation will make them nearly £1m on the first night alone. |

ITV had £165k for 11.0m for The X Factor launch last year. 11.0m divided by £165k multiplied by £35k = 2.3 million viewers. Surely they expect more? Or are advertisers willing to pay so much more for The X Factor just because of the names behind it? |

I think Popstar to Operastar will probably keep the unique honor of being the only one of these shows to have a higher rating preview show than the series that followed.

Wednesday 17th August Overnights
BBC One 21:00- Who Do You Think You Are?: 6.1m 26.7% BBC Two 21:00- The Wildest Dream: Conquest of Everest: 1.1m 5.2% ITV1 (inc ITV1+1) 20:00- Lewis: 3.2m 13.8% Channel 4 (inc C4+1) 20:00- Twilight: 2.5m 9.9% Channel 5 21:00- NCIS: 1.0m 4.3% Even though Twilight did not rate highly, it was wise for C5 to move CBB launch to Thursday, as compared to last night ITV1 will be about 300k down, BBC1 about 2.1m down and Channel 4 about 1.1m down. BBC2 will be up about 1m. Also with today being very wet and also one of the coldest August days in years in many parts of the south, I expect that will boost overall TV viewing tonight. |

Bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of 8/11 that over 4 million people will tune into the live launch tonight.

That is quite poor for Twilight just 2.18m (10.8%) without +1; I was expecting a 3 million + figure for that even in a Wednesday slot. Although It could have seen 3.5m on a Sunday. C4 should do a Sunday repeat of it once the evenings get dark and I expect it will rate higher than it did last night.
Even though Twilight did not rate highly, it was wise for C5 to move CBB launch to Thursday, as compared to last night ITV1 will be about 300k down, BBC1 about 2.1m down and Channel 4 about 1.1m down. Twilight did okay for Channel 4 but I bet there are dissapointed, I watched it and dont understand how it's so popular! Sex and the City should bring in 2.5-3m on Sunday though.
Channel 5 should be hoping for a decent sized audience for BB although the weather's been dreadful so that should help ratings. |

See I Love SATC but I saw it in the cinema and wouldn't watch it on TV with loads of ad breaks. There can't be many people left out there that haven't seen it already? Can there?
