Betting odds reflect the money being placed on bets by punters so you have to assume the punters putting on the bets know what they are doing!

Having said that I'd think it has to get over 4m tonight, otherwise its going to be a long cold autumn for them...

I read some tweets between Richard Osman & Mark from The Chase - Mark said it was a shame both quizzes were clashing. Richard mentioned Pointless was taking a couple of weeks off at some point.

Disappointing for Twilight - but it does have a teen feel to it, excellent however for WDYTYA.

I must say talking to people today I get the sense that quite a few will tune in to Big Brother tonight for the curiosity factor. There is also a reasonable amount of buzz on Twitter and other social networking sites (not always the best measure I know). I can see it launching very strongly indeed. Whether it will sustain that over the course of the celebrity run and then on into the regular series I am less sure but it is certainly going to be fascinating to see how it performs.

That's par for the course with BB. Channel 4's final series of CBB launched with 6.28m official ratings, dropping to 3.77m the following night (a fall of about 40%). The launch rated higher than the final (4.46m).

Turns out it's a new episode of My Family.

Well the stage the housemates are walking in on is sloped so hopefully one of them (preferably Kerry Katona) will fall flat on their backside and slide down the ramp.

That's a fantastic figure for Who Do You Think You Are? National Treasures and Village SOS struggled slightly but every other channel would be pleased with those kinds of figures. The One Show is really limping along at the moment.

Natural World performed reasonably well for BBC Two but otherwise figures were slightly on the low side. They're really over egging (no pun intended) Eggheads in the 6pm hour.

Lewis seems to be struggling slightly - it's the kind of one off drama that people were claiming ITV1 should air on Tuesday; not a series, popular first run etc. yet it's not pulling up any trees. Emmerdale did well viewer wise.

Poor night for Channel 4 really; I expected much better from Twilight considering the hype behind the franchise, and the channel seemed to believe it was a way to dent Big Brother. Hollyoaks seems to have stablised after a shaky spring.

A very poor night for Channel 5 all round. They should be looking at least one show above 1m (I know NCIS hit 1m, I mean 1.1m+ ). I expected OK! TV to see a slight boost due to the Big Brother connection but it wasn't to be.

I don't think they put repeats on in BBC Press Office, do they?

My non scientific prediction for Big Brother. Take last year's launch, divide it by Channel 4's daily reach and multiply by Channel 5's daily reach. So that's 4.57m excluding +1 from last year as Channel 4's daily reach also excludes +1.

So: 4.57m divided by 12.337m multiplied by 9.599m = 3.56m for the launch night. Although I think it will touch 4m myself, hopefully 4.2m if I'm lucky.

On against Coronation Street. So new My Family has to play second fiddle to a repeat of Miranda (on at 9.30 against Fraud Squad). I'm liking Danny Cohen more and more.

Makes sense though. My Family is a old past-its-best sitcom coming to a conclusion whilst Miranda is, hopefully, the next big thing in BBC1 comedy.

I don't know, the Press Office seem to get easily confused. They initially had Bank Holiday Eastenders down for a 7.30pm slot even though they know damn well (or should do) that Coronation Street is on at that time. ( on their behalf.)


edit: Actually, reading the Press Pack I note that having one episode on on Sunday afternoon allows Village SOS to finish its run on the same week as National Treasures Lives (for whatever reason).

In more stupid scheduling, the Poirot on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, not only is it a repeat but it is down for 1 hour 45 minutes... eh? Since when do episodes of Poirot only air for 105 minutes?

Just watching CS now, I set a reminder for CBB on my Freeview television - it switched at 8.55, which seems to be an error on the EPG, I did read on another forum that someone else's EPG showed CBB set as 8.55pm.

I wonder how many people are tuned into Channel 5 now?

Should have started bang on 9pm so you can catch all the channel hoppers. Shouldn't make too much of a difference, but it needs to catch the casuals.

Has anyone got a round up of how the Channel 4 CBB's rated on launch night, so we know how to benchmark tonight's show?

Celebrity Big Brother looking very polished so far, titles and staging are pretty awesome.

The recent ones only last 90-95 minutes. By having less than the allowed six breaks, it could easily be shown in a much shorter slot.

Channel 5 have some how managed to make BB even chavier than ever before, filling the house with people from TOWIE & BFGW

The TV snobs are going to explode, it's ticking almost every box!

At the least the show (and crowd) are more welcoming and are not like dogs screaming all the time.
