A guy from BFGW?! I mean really?!

Big Brother is a tired format, and watching tonights launch show is proving it to me.

I'm wondering about the length, I would have done the same as them to be honest, don't blame them at all for putting a repeat versus New Tricks.

A bit poor for Twilight, if they kept it on Sunday it probabaly would have been 3 million plus. I hope Channel 5 does OK tonight, though I do fear the ratings might be poor and massively down on what C4 got for their last series.

Perhaps being on a big soap night ITV are shifting their allowance to earlier in the evening, hence allowing a shorter running time for Poirot?

ITV two hour mystery dramas are never usually shown on evenings with three soap episodes.

Just the Bayern Munich v FC Zurich game on ITV4 from 7.30-10pm.

It averaged 456,000, and peaked at 650,000 at 9pm. Thanks to Bushmills -posted a few pages back

Top nine Twitter trends in the UK are all Big Brother related, and it is also trending first worldwide. I will resist upping my prediction to 4.5m or near 5m though...

For Big Brother I'm still sticking to under 3 million.

I may be way out, hence why I'm not in ratings predictions game lol.

It's no surprise BB is dominating Twitter, it's the sort of show Twitter was made for.

I will stick with my original CBB prediction of 4.1m made a week or two ago. I think that's definitely achievable and my best guess at this moment in time. I will be disappointed with anything below 3.5m.

Really enjoyed the launch show. Apart from a few awkward moments Brian did a great job and I think he'll grow more into the role as the series progresses. And they've got a fair few in there like Sally Bercow that should be good value.

More housemates to come apparently. Perhaps starting tomorrow night with the second live show?

Excellent for WDYTYA, which I suppose was to be expected with a big-name subject. Not bad for the preceding shows, though I get the sense Village SOS is being swept under the carpet. As I recall, it was quite a prominent Jay Hunt commission that seems to have taken ages to get to air. I suspect Cohen doesn't think much of it. National Treasures, on the other hand, does at least reflect the extra Live primetime content he had specified in one of those interviews at the beginning of the year.

I think Twilight's getting a bit of a hard time on here, actually. It might have done a bit better at the weekend, but I don't think it would ever have been that impressive. I imagine the demo breakdown will still be strong and thats what Channel 5 were running from with BB.

My DSRPG prediction for BB was I think just under 4m - though I have been quite surprised by how much attention it seems to have generated today, so maybe it'll do more. No mainstream names as far as I can recognise (I only know two, which I think is an all-time low) but figure some of these reality TV veterans might at least appeal to that specific audience effectively.

How do people relate Twitter to ratings? Because how many people use Twitter in just the UK? Plus people are going to be tweeting more than once about the same show? Aah confusing

I think it could get around 5 million, even my mum was watching, which says something. Facebook was on overload with BB statuses.

I guess the fact there was many different trends and that it was #1 internationally are good signs. But I'm also skeptical about making that link.

Re CBB - A bunch of mostly Z listers doesn't really interest me, so C5 have lost me as a viewer, but Brian Dowling did a good job tonight I thought. And a decent first challenge which should create some action in the house straight away

I watched it last week. Seemed like more of a BBC2 show to me

William Hill were predicting "up to 5 million."

Many of the trends on a Friday night are often about celebrities that are appearing in Channel 4's schedule (10 Cats and Alan Carr), but in the ratings they are still usually a distant third.

Also will be interesting to see the Bit on the Side's rating tomorrow, if the Main Show ended up with ~4.5m, the Bit on the Side could have got ~2m.

I think around 3.5 million will be the rating. OK for C5 but not great.

My Facebook is also, and I too think 5 million+ as a peak.

whether it keeps the audience is another matter.

5 million really? that is very high by Channel 5 standards, no of if not their most watch show if that turned out to be true.

Makes 3.5m prediction look smalll.

Their record is 5.3million for an England game about 10 years ago IIRC.

I think 8.30pm is probably a better slot for My Family. ITV used to shove random episodes of Coronation St against it on Fridays at 8.30pm in the past, before Coronation St became a fixture there, and the sitcom held up okay. MF doesn't rate that well these days, but I think it'll get 3m or so against Coronation St.

There will be a big drop off on Friday of course, as there always is. They're not the most famous bunch of people you could have assembled, I think it's fair to say! But that doesn't mean it can't be a great series and rate well for Channel 5 standards.

Sally's favourite paper the Daily Mail have her on the front page tomorrow I see. The Daily Star is being cheeky and claiming a record audience already, tsk!
