Which ultimately means CBB starts at 9.20, i'll eat my hat if it doesn't

Yep, I think it will too. NCIS was very late starting. It was more like 20 past 8. So it looks like Channel 5 were well prepared for this late ITV change. It's almost like they read them like a book!

I Think X Factor will do well this year. I Did not Miss Simon or Cheryl at all so i predict 11-13m for the Series average

EastEnders performed well enough for BBC One. Miranda appears to have been hit by Big Brother as it's lower than last week.

The second Coronation Street seems to struggle share wise on Monday and Friday (and indeed the 8.30pm episode on Thursday also seems to dip) - maybe because of the lead out? Emmerdale and the first Coronation Street did fine. Someone's Son Someone's Daughter is poorly scheduled, and I can't see Fraud Squad doing much better in the slot.

Channel 4 was heavily dented by Big Brother - oh the irony! Come Dine With Me appears to ahve bounced back ever so slightly on previous weeks but their comedy hour struggled.

Celebrity Big Brother performed very well though tonight will be the big test for it against tougher opposition. The Bachelor really should've performed better IMO considering the lead in and I think it may have dented Bit On The Side in the process. Neighbours seems to have viewers slip away from it.

India on Four Wheels performed well for BBC Two with the shows around it claiming an adequate share. Gardener's World is maybe being hurt by airing directly opposite Coronation Street.

The X Factor's launch appears to have had a good reception on the forum. It'll be interesting to see if it holds up when the ratings come in.

I'm not sure why ITV extended X Factor by 5 minutes to 9:20pm, the tape-checked ratings will cut off at 9:15pm as that's when it finished. In the same way, the tape-checked rating for Big Brother will go from 9:15pm to 10:15pm, not 10:20pm as re-billed.

And as for Twitter:

Trends: United Kingdom
1) #BB
2) #xfactor
3) #CelebBB
4) Janet Devlin
5) Gary Barlow
6) SAW OR Final Destination
7) Your Song
8) Go Tulisa
9) Diana Vickers
10) Jamie Bruce

I'm not sure how X Factor will launch, but do not forget that even 10.5m is reported at 9:40am tomorrow, that may or may not include +1 and/or HD, so a lot of factors to consider.

Big Brother may actually do well on the back of a good X Factor launch.

Enjoyed X- Factor. The new lineup has really refreshed the show.

Whats the betting that this year's X Factor opening will be the highest on record?

Watched The X Factor and I'm impressed with the new judges especially Gary and Kelly. Tulisa I'm still unsure about but she'll grow into the role. Kind of wish they got rid of Louis but I imagine they didn't want a clean sweep.

Unlikely idea but with The X Factor airing in the UK, the US and Australia, I would love to see a crossover week where a judge from each show goes onto a different X Factor to judge a week. So you could have Gary Barlow go to America, have LA Reid or Paula go to Australia and Natalie Bassingwaite or Guy Sebastion go to Britain. Or if that's a little too complicated just have a American/UK swap week with the contestant singing the songs from that judge's country.

While the all-new X-Factor might have been better than the previous series the viewing public might just be sick of the concept.

Most shows have 7 years before the sickness sets in and as James Bond might say it's had it's 7.

Potential for an interesting night on Friday 2nd September.
The return of Million Pound Drop, a Big Brother eviction, and maybe the last ever My Family.
(I'm confused about that one because I think BBC1 viewers are still missing an episode due to an Andy Murray Wimbledon match, although it was shown on iplayer).

Rating just in:

The X Factor got 11m viewers last night, peaking at 12.6m

Source: Claire W, Sky Publicist

Not sure if that includes HD/+1 or one of them or both, if it's a full-slot or tape-checked average, etc. But it seems like once again, another very high launch rating.

X Factor: Launch Show Overnights
2004 - 4.9m
2005 - 6.6m
2006 - 7.0m (37%)
2007 - 9.5m (45%)
2008 - 10.2m (48%)
2009 - 9.9m (48%)
2010 - 11.1m (48%)

If that is for the entire slot, then the tape-checked rating could be above the 11.3m (48.6%) recorded for last year's opener.

Quite amazing if that turns out a record high again.

Excellent start for The X Factor. Last year's launch peaked at 12.6m too so that's identical to last year, and an 11m average is almost the same last year. ITV will be really relieved.

- The X Factor averaged 10.80m (45.7%) and 504k (2.2%) on ITV1+1. It peaked with 12.0m/12.6m (exc/inc +1)
- All Star Family Fortunes got nearly 6m.
- WWTBAM had 4.3m (19.4%) and 186k on +1.
- Celebrity Big Brother: 2.74m (12.1%).

Note: Include HD and tape-checked averages

Cheers rzt.

So it averaged 11.3m (tapechecked) and peaked at 12.6m. That's exactly the same as last year! Quite bizarre that it got exactly the same ratings.

EDIT: Considering the lead in that's a bit poor for Millionaire - then again, who wants to watch a soapstars special? Having said that it looks like Family Fortunes did very well with soapstars on. Maybe CBB and Xtra Factor dented Millionaire?

Very good for CBB.

Not bad for a Saturday night Big Brother, which has always rated lower than sun-fri shows.

Should return to 3.0m + tonight.

Very good rating for Family Fortunes in its new one hour format considering it is tape-checked as it finished at 19:55. Millionaire did alright, but I was expecting higher than 4.3m - I think that is actually its lowest live rating since they introduced them.

Steady for Big Brother, but solid nevertheless.

I Thought it was the same as last year

They're taking the +1 included tape-checked numbers. In 2010 it had 11.28m, this year it had 11.31m (inc +1), so slightly higher in that regard. Peak was slightly higher too (2010- 12.56m, 2011- 12.63m).

Different websites will probably say different things. Some will say it's down, some will say it's flat and some will say it's up!

Well, technically it was up on last year - by 0.025m

So really it was the same as last year.

Terrible, mindless, tabloid journalism from DS using a headline implying that there has been some sort of major decline since last years x factor when it's clear the truth is it's the same as last.
