The most recent hearing was on a show called Aarti Party. I've also heard it on DDD and Man v Food.

Pears believe it or not. I came across Pear Cider Vinegar in Germany and believe its also available in Austria etc and around that area and think it may also be available in America as well. This is most likely why they refer to Apple Cider vinegar as being apple otherwise you might get someone going and getting pear and then not getting the same results.

Although link says apple cider it also has the pear cider vinegar on there

Lol, beat me to it. I was going to say about pear cider vinegar.

However, interestingly enough, only apples can be used in cider.

Pear cider, to be accurate, should be called pyder.

I saw that on a show last week (I think it was a repeat of Market Kitchen).
Unfortunately it's not listed at all on mySupermarket so I doubt i'll find it around here.

Hahaha indeed. One can refer to it as a perry as well.

Anything else that doesnt fall within the remits of apple>cider and pear>pyder is a perry ....

God, the English language really must be daunting to some foreigners! Dont we make it all needlessly complex!

I was watching a show (possibly Rick Stein's Food Heroes) and he was with a perry producer and he said that if you buy "Pear Cider" you're getting chemicals with pear essence. If you want actual pear cider you need to be prodcuing perry from perry pears.

But apparently there is no where near enough stock to make perry in bulk so that's why the big manufacturers make pear cider for the masses with fizzy soda and chemicals.

I actually don't mind a Pear Kopparberg

But I do have two apple trees and a large pear tree in the back garden. Might try brewing my own perry at some point ....
