Recording Problem
I bought a HD 8520 recorder last Wednesday and set it up to record 5 programmes 4 of them came OK but the other had a red sign by the name of the programme and it did not record.
Have I done anything wrong? Ken |

Sometimes, fiddling about within the EPG produces these unplayable recordings. At least the PHILIPS shows then as unplayable. Most other boxes just don't record, and leave you wondering whether you had a "senior moment"! My HUMAX plays such tricks on me all the time!
You have a good box. Make sure it is running software version 7.21. Some of them ship with an earlier iteration. |

Have I done anything wrong? Ken It's a strange box this some people have lots of problems others none (like me). I think there two factors here. Signal strength is important. Weak signals cause stuttering and problems with audio sync. The other is usage. If you record lots and have a full library it causes problems as well. |

If you have set the box to record 2 programmes either simultaneously or at least over-lapping then if you are using the box to watch a channel other than the two then you can end up with a lost recording. I.e. you set the box to record programmes on say BBC2 & E4 but are watching Quest you hit a problem as the box has only the 2 tuners.
