8) Dizzee Rascal - I cannot understand why this man is not just popular, he has been nominated (won?) for Mercury Prizes! He is just so, so poor. I understand that this one is entirely due to my own taste though.
AGREED! I really can't stand Dizzee Rascal - I'll admit I quite like a few of his songs as they were catchy, but his vocal delivery seems absolutely awful to me and live he is atrocious, most of his act seems to involve him shouting at the crowd trying to make them bounce. Awful! Never understood why he is so 'critically acclaimed'.

Found that list entertaining. I don't like any of the people/groups on that list and agree with most things you said in the first post, but that's about it

Some of you aren't half vexed by this post, aren't you? The OP makes many valid (and bloody funny) points. I mean, I like Beyonce but I'm not gonna sit here & be blind to her faults- she's not family!

Pixie Lott is annoying- did you see her as a judge on X Factor?!
The Wanted are dire!
I like Jessie J but she does have a tendency to oversing every note (see also Xtina)!
Dev's monotone voice does grate!
Add Jason Derulo (does he ever sing without autotune???), David Guetta, Bieber, Black Eyed Peas...the list is endless.

And this is coming from someone who loves all kinds of music (apart from the above obviously ) )

Black Eyed Peas.

Their album tracks are absolutely HORRIBLE. Some weren't even good enough to be called songs! The tracks on E.N.D were terrible, and while I've loved some of their singles (Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling, Meet Me Halfway, Just Can't Get Enough) they're very lazily produced sometimes and some other singles are crap (The Time, Imma Be, Rock That Body), plus they're not very good live at all (except Fergie).

Britney - doesn't write, doesn't produce, doesn't sing. Just looks pretty, dances and mimes. No musical talent at all, imo.
Cheryl Cole - representing everything that's wrong with the charts. Very bad singer disguised with autotune and her ability to dance.
Jason Derulo - horrible singer, lazy samples.

JLS - No way do they deserve their five #1's. A joke of a band and whilst I quite liked them on X-Factor, ever since they got a record deal they've went really downhill.

Cher Lloyd - rubbish
All Time Low - pop rock crap
Dev - pointless chatter
Cheryl Cole - can't sing
Nicola Roberts - weak
JLS - annoying and overhyped
Matt Cardle - boring
The Wanted - typical
Anna Tsuchiya - boring and bland
Charlie Simpson - trying to go mainstream and failing it seems.
Paramore - they have just sucked lately.
Escape the fate - Falling in reverse will eat your arse.

More than 10 but yeah.

1. Cher Lloyd. I know she is an easy target and being that she can barely string a sentence together it's unfair to lay the smack down on someone who wouldn't be able to defend themselves, but she really deserves it. In a recent interview she said "a lot of people would be surprised that I grew up listening to grime". Oh really? Council estate chav listens to grime? There was I thinking you grew up listening to Jane's Addiction. Jagger Swagger is surely the worst song ever recorded. I know that I'm joining the brigade of those who "can't stop tweeting about her" but while she's releasing the offensive abominations she calls songs the world will continue to talk about how s**t she is,

2. Katy Perry. Is she an actress or musician? Because her performances in the videos for Hot and Cold, Waking Up in Vegas and TGIF are Oscar worthy. Shame the music is a pile of dog turd. Her music contains no emotion whatsoever. If music was about pulling funny faces and acting like an obnoxious t**t she'd be up there with Beethoven.

3. Beyonce. An icon for the modern age. Will no doubt be the first female president of the USA once she's finished taking over the world. Every 25-35 year old professional woman's girl crush as they dream to break out of their mundane 9to5 office life and make a living shaking what momma gave them too. Recently wowed Glastonbury (and the whole wide world) with an incredible, awe inspiring, death defying performance where she shook her big ass around for an hour and a half. Her latest video sees her prancing around the bedroom in Ann Summers' finest lingerie, whether this is for artistic expression purposes or just some light titilation to take your mind off the boring soundtrack playing alonsgide it is open for debate.

4. JLS. Insist upon shouting JLS during the intro of a song someone else made for em just incase you couldn't recognise them from their ugly mugs. Aston Merrygold at 5'4" is the average height of a male pop heart throb. He has a fantastic 6 pack, shame it's stuck on a 12 year old boy's body lol. I see they have gone rave on their latest single, I guess that's musical progression.

5. Lady GaGa. I preferred her when she was a Britney Spears wannabe dueting with the legendary Colby O'Donis and pimping herself out to Akon. Then all of a sudden she became the most talented, creative, artistic human being to ever walk the face of the earth. When she's going to apply some of that profound creativity to her music is anyone's guess. Until then we're subjected to an inoffensive dose of TinaTurner/Madonna esque euro dance pop and some funny hats. GaGa you're boring!

6. Christina Aguilera. The icon of a generation (the sl*t generation that is lol). People seem to think if someone can sing their music is automatically good (it doesn't work like that), not that Aguilera has much input into her music but the once ghetto fabulous blonde latino honey who once slated Jennifer Love Hewitt for having nothing but white men in her videos has since mellowed out in her old age (after marrying 2 white blokes) and got boring. Ain't No Other Man was the start of her downfall, a forgetable bit of elevator muzak dedicated to her short and unattractive special bloke.

7. The Wanted. The minimum requirement for a boy band is to at least be good looking. These talentless high school drop outs can't even get that right. At 5'6" Max George is bigger than your average boy band idol, but it's ok I'm safe hidden behind my computer screen. These guys couldn't hold a note if their lives depended on it. They have gone rave on their latest single, showing the world just how progressive they can be. Still I'm sure their mummies love them.

8. Jessie J. The hype surrounding Jessie J was unavoidable, Here was the next big thing, an exciting talented new artist who was going to bring something new to the table. Apparently she had an "amazing" voice (where have I heard that before?). The excitement was uncontrollable. So did we find the UK's answer to System of a Down? No instead we got another diva from the Saaf East singing a song about wearing your high heels too high to have a good time (while wearing massive high heels herself) and saying "it ain't all about d money innit" or something along those lines. Next please.

9. Pixie Lott. The next big thing (before Jessie J). Apparently she's got an amaaaazing voice. To me it just sounds like an annoying Kent accent. The daughter of a stock broker obviously has musical roots from an early age and wanted to grow up to be mega rich just like her daddy. As she "helped wrote some of her songs innit" she should be inline for a nice pay day as Mama Do (one of the most boring songs ever made) sold millions.

10. Dev. Dev talks a lot. I know a lot of women who talk a lot, it doesn't mean they are worth listening to.

Not eligible for the list: Chery Cole. Music and Chery Cole do not go in the same sentence. She does not have a musical bone in her body. If Cheryl Cole is a musician then anyone with a provisional driving licence is a formula 1 racer. Therefore she isn't eligible.

Lily Allen. Would undoubtedly top the list but looks like she's quit music for a while (thank god). I also don't have enough space on notepad to write about how bad she is,
my vote for worst post of the year.

I'm not a fan of all the artists but really?? really?? really???

So Avril is a good artist but she doesn't write her own songs. Gaga on the other hand writes her own songs but of course that doesn't matter

Double standards.
Avril co-writes the majority of her songs, as does Lady Gaga..

Worst by far are the Black Eyed Peas. Saw them live at a BBC recording a few months back and they were absolutely dismal. Their songs are rubbish anyway - just loud sound effects with trivial whittering about 'partying' over the top - but the performance was dire. Will.I.Am didn't know the words to his own song and had to read them off of an autocue, but he couldn't even manage that so they had to stop the song halfway through and start again.

I think that for original fans of the Black Eyed Peas, watching how their career has developed must have been an experience akin to watching a loved one succumb to dementia. I remember back in 2005 when they released their collaboration with James Brown. It was called 'They Don't Want Music' and lambasted contemporary music fans for not being discerning enough. Will.I.Am rapped about John Coltrane and the chorus went, 'They don't want music, they don't know how to use it, all they want is boom boom boom boom.' Four years later the BEP's released a track called 'Boom Boom Pow', which consisted largely of the group singing 'boom boom boom' over and over again. They became the very thing they had previously railed against.

Biggest sell-outs in modern music history.

So true, great post. I absolutely hate the term "sell-out" because it's so often applied unfairly and falsely, but if there's one act in the world who have genuinely sold out then it's the Black Eyed Peas. Well, them or Kings of Leon.

I don't agree at all with the people that are saying Nicola Roberts. Most of you have probably only heard those two atrocious singles and not the whole album. Give the album a try, it is really fantastic and is much better than Cheryls tripe.

My own list, no order apart from my number 1 because he is the most horrendous person in the music business.
1 - Kanye West
2 - Cheryl Cole
3 - Black Eyed Peas - what happened to them, seriously? ugh..
4 - Lady GaGa - good voice, bad songs. + all the garbage that comes with her is irritating.
5 - Kesha - dire.
6 - Katy Perry
7 - Nicki Minaj - i hate regular rapping. her crap is even worse.
8 - Snoop Dogg
9 - Britney Spears
10 - Inna
11 - Dev
12 - LMFAO

There are so many more that I don't like but at the moment those twelve spring to mind.

Yeah.

Avril Doesnt write songs

Gaga does.

But Gagas lyrics were good in her first few songs but have gone on to being really awful, The fame has ruined her lyrics.

I love Christina so cant agree with that but I agree with Gaga, Cher etc

Yes she does. She wrote 7 songs solo, and all the rest with co-writers on her 4th album alone.

I think people like Usher and Snoop Dogg (and to lesser extents, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Rowland, and another 30 or so RnB/hip hop artists that are now doing electropop all the time) are bigger sell-outs.

And LMFAO. They did a song about 10 years back with the Black Eyed Peas. Boy how they've changed!

I certainly don't listen to her but Lady Gaga is excellent at what she does. She puts in a lot of hard work into her shows. I hate when people diss music just because it's not their thing. The same people will have a go at pop-punk bands like Blink-182, Sum 41 etc just because they don't like that style of muisic. And maybe My Chemical Romance, Bullet for My Valentine etc because they dont like that mixture of screaming with catchy lyrics. Or Eminem because they don't like rap. Or even long established pop stars like Cliff Richard and Barry Manilow. Theyre all "worthy" because theyve repeatedly sold album after album for a decade or more, you don't do that by accident.

Don't have a go at musicians who actually have talent, just because you don't like that specific genre. Have a go at the rubbish the public gets force fed from things like the x-factor. ie: people who are basically just chancers, and don't really have any musical talent whatsoever. The ones who inevitably have one album then vanish into obscurity. They're what's wrong with todays music. The rest of the music industry is more vibrant and varied than it has ever been.

That was exactly my feeling when I read the Op's post. Seems like it's coming from a narrow-minded music snob trying to cause a stir. I could have understood the point of his thread if it was about pop music in particular but he's just being 'controversial' for the sake. I think he's just trying to have a go at those who enjoyed 'cheesy' music and the top 40 genre - and that would include me - and that's quite petty since DS Forum threads deals mainly with popstars of the moment.
