I have a feeling that if she was still alive she would have had more timeless releases....like the Black Britney (not the religious figure but you know what i mean!) in terms of longevity. And i think she would have matched Britney in terms of sales etc. and level of hype etc

Become a one named legend like Madonna, Elvis! and be a fantastic contemporary to Beyonce etc.

I rank her up there with Janet, Kylie, Britney THE Princesses of the industry and each so different too! ”

Agreed. An inspiration for women

It's only 30 seconds long or something, I wish I could find the whole episode, but it's so haunting and beautiful.

30 seconds of Aaliyah makes up for 1 hour of Katie Price.

She really is!

Not rammed in your face "female empowerment" but like Madonnas Express Yourself for example....Was Aaliyahs More Than A Woman. I think this is a fantastic comparison really because both sonvs have fantastic vocals (different sure) have quirky beats and very catchy BUT they are not in you face like Run The World, Born This Way FEEL (sure catchy but damn can be cringy!)

I love anthems that speak to the listener, not talk down and Aaliyah perfected it!

And that song is on her debut album! absolutely love Down With The Clique! You forget what ave she was

Yeah, it's hard to believe she was only 14 when Down with the Clique was recorded! Such a mature voice, I love that song.

We moved back and forth,
We went down with the clique,
There were so many songs out there,
That we could all pick,

Truly more than a woman,
You went and rocked the boat,
Definitely one in a million,
You always hit the perfect note,

But now you are gone,
We celebrate in song,
Aaliyah we miss you,
And we'll miss you for long,

The plane rolled down the runway.
It was a warm day, the sky was smiling.
Disaster was moments away.
The weather said nothing.

I have her 2nd and 3rd album, the European re-releases with all the bonus tracks and after months of trying to like her debut, I think I am finally getting into it.I may purchase it on August 25th alongside with every version of 'One In A Million' (the song) there is on Amazon.com.I still cannot believe that this gem never made it into the main chart, radio was eating it up back then.

Thank you, I was trying to make one so hard! The final paragraph is written by Christopher John Farley in the book Aaliyah: More Than A Woman.

Please, don't go there!!!Everytime that I think about her potential I get pissed off and then depressed. There are a lot of COULD HAVE/WOULD HAVE about Aaliyah that I'd rather not think about. At least she managed to live a part of her dream and fulfill a bit of her vision while she was alive...

So, now that I'm back home, I will try to write a poem for Aaliyah.

In the meantime though, I've found this interview, it's one of her first TV interviews ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaoph...ure=grec_index

I still remember all the rumours about R Kelly marrying Aaliyah, which was illegal since she was underraged.I never liked this man, but I don't think Aaliyah was that kind of person and it annoys me that no matter how many times Aaliyah had dismissed the rumours, people still bring it up sometimes

Poem running late

I'm not an X Factor fan but I think she may have been a judge on US X Factor

I could see that happening. Also, she'd do Dancing with the Stars at one point and win, I think.

She had so many opportunities

Her eyes burned like fire,
Her tears ran like streams,
Ever the opportunist,
She fulfilled many dreams.

In this present day and age,
The industry has passed,
From Swagger Jagger to Rebecca Black,
It's Aaliyah I'd wish back.

Many legends drink themselves to an early grave,
But not Aaliyah she stayed strong,
And demons stayed away.

In my eyes,
She was a star,
An inspiration to her fellow musicians,
She propelled them so very far.

Hmm...being a judge on a cheesy talent show that Simon Cowell uses to control the industry and being a contestant in a show where only has beens guest wasn't exactly my vision of her career

I haven't heard that song before. I'll check it out later. I'm listening to Don't Know What To Tell Ya right now.
