I'm going to be purchasing the Samsung UE40D6100 at the end of the week and I want to ensure I have everything ready so that when I get it home I can connect everything up with me PC with no issues.

As you can see from the spec sheet here it have a DVI input, just a normal PC D-sub and HDMI. My PC monitor is currently DVI to DVI, so I'm assuming that if I get a DVI to HDMI lead that will sort out the video, but what about the audio? DVI is picture only, so whats being feed to the HDMI slot will be only picture. If I connect the audio using the normally audio jack, will if pick it up if I've selected HDMI on the TV? or will I have to connect the PC with the D-sub lead and audio jack and not have digital quality?

It partially depends on the spec of your PC - some graphics cards have a DVI to HDMI adaptor that will also pass audio.

Otherwise your best bet is going to be sending the pictures to the TV with the DVI to HDMI cable, and sending the audio to your AV amp, as the audio on flat-screen TV's is usually quite dire quality.

Thanks, I'm going to get a DVI and HDMI and then I'll see what happens when I connect it up. I kind of forgot I have a good speaker system with connected to the PC, so for now, even if the audio doesn't work, I can just use the PC audio anyway.

Hi, sorry with late reply, guess you have new tv now. An HDMI lead handles video and audio so just buy a cheap one for about £4 (as long as it says 'high speed') and that will work just fine. Make sure you set up your display screen options on your PC so it knows to take the picture from the tv instead of the pc monitor.
