Primadonna was probably not the strongest first single to choose.

I'm not depressed about the sales at all. Marina never built up enough traction with her last album for us to expect anything better than what she has sold. I always expected that sales would be down in the 20,000s, the fact she got a number 1 album is beyond amazing because it gives her that extra something she didn't have before.

I think Primadonna was a perfect lead single, it represented the album well and I don't think any other song could've set everything up aswell as Primadonna has. The only setback was lack of commercial airplay besides Radio 1.

I find sometimes with an artist I'm not overly familiar with I wait to hear their other singles before buying their album. Primadonna is looking like it will end up selling over 100,000 eventually and so that's a huge positive, its already out performing Hollywood in not only chart position but also longevity in the top 20. If the other singles perform similar to TFJ then EH will probably sell around the same as TFJ. If she gets one single that just strikes a chord with the public and blows up for her then she'll probably outsell TFJ by quite a lot.

Right now I'm not bothered by sales because everything is too up in the air for Marina and things could go any which way, I would be worried if TFJ had been a big hit for her and she was getting these sales but for a lot of people she's still an unknown entity, its almost like starting again for her.

I agree with all of this, especially the bold, you never know what'll happen.

I disagree. There's alot more to airplay then how good songs are, like radio politics for example. I believe, this is my opinion obviously, that Capital will never play Marina because she's a through and through Radio 1 artist. Capital are notorious for this sort of thing with countless examples of the late.

Lyrically and sonically, Primadonna is a very radio friendly song and out of the 12 songs that made the album, it was the one which stood the best chance of success.

Bottom of the page is a list of territories where the album has been released. Basically most countries now. By the 25th, most countries in the world will have it minus the US & Canada.

To be fair, only Primadonna alone has sold this album. Her label seem to have forgotten Radioactive hence why it was booted to the deluxe edition. I am sure with more singles released, her sales will grow.

and the sales will be dire, unfortunately, as the UK is currently experiencing very poor album sales even for its #1s (like Marina's 21.3k last week). Marina just isn't connecting with the public, sadly.

Primadonna is 14 this week. That's 11-13-11-14, 4 weeks inside the top 15 now. Though next week should see a big drop. Either way, roll on Part 5: Su-Barbie-A (hopefully this week) and the 2nd single!

She did! She sold 8,416 (http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?s...de=1049540&c=1) last week which isn't too bad. And only about 1,500 off Lana Del Rey at #5 - though that says more about the terrible state of album sales at the minute than anything else...

If the number #1 album isn't connecting with the public, it's not saying much for the artists not reaching number #1!!

OOh 8,000+ not bad at all and was pleasantly surprised by primadonna holding strong in the top 15 plus with T4 music being used on TV i think she is already more known than before.

I was just about to post the figures. Ignoring the chart position the numbers are good and she sold more then predicted throughout the week! Sales were very close between 5-15 so it could've gone either way. Hoping the drops won't be as big now.

Total sales stand at: 29,774 copies.
