Barbara....I saw on the world weather report last night your neck of the woods has had 36 consecutive days of over 100 degrees. No sign of a let up. It must be exhausting. Hope your DIL is well.

After seeing Stephy post her randomness pmsl I did declare that I would decline my date and even if Thread 200 did happen on 27th I would still lose. #fail I agree it won't happen now. And Stephy is doing her damnest to make it on the 12th I give up

was enjoying the Dallas discussion yesterday. Didn't join in - sorry - got a bit distracted by one of our dear posters

I was so excited to read that you are only 5 miles away from Southfork. We used to love that programme. So OTT but just marvellous. Clive James, the Aussie TV columnist used to send it up something rotten and I loved his write ups even more than the programme - used to have me in hysterics. What I loved as well was that the actors didn't seem to take it too seriously either and hammed it up for all they were worth. They used to come over here and really understand English humour, especially Larry Hagman.

Hi Joyce, yes the weather has been ridiculous, we are going to break the all-time record in a couple of days. No let-up, barely a cloud in the sky.....HOT and draught conditions. Not normal at all for my part of Texas.

My DIL is doing well, she is trying to stay inside out of the heat as much as possible, but still working fulltime. I'm anxious to hear what the Dr. says on her visit this week. She officially has under 4 weeks to go now.

Is that her choice to work that long, Barbara? I did with my second, up until the day before the unexpectedly early arrival - which peeved me a bit - I wasn't even packed ready to go to the hospital. But that's typical daughter for you - causing trouble right from the start

I think you mean DALLAS, not Dallas.

It is funny, I go by Southfork all the time. It is now like a party/special events place. They do have tours as well, but I go there a few times a year for a wedding reception, or a lawn concert, community luncheon, etc.

I agree with the OTT, I expect the new series to be too...and that will be okay as long as its fun too....and doesnt' take itself too seriously.

Regarding your other discussion, I was definitely in agreement with you on that one.

Yes, as of now she is trying to work as long as possible. That could change at any time though.
She gets 12 wks off after the baby is born, but is about a week shy of that in what she can get in time-off pay from her saved up vacation, sick-days, etc.
She wants to be able to take the full 12 wks and get as much pay as possible; so she's trying not to use any before the baby's born.

My Dr. ordered me on bed rest about a month before my first was due. I did a little work from home, but not too much...before the days of telecommuting and remote access that we have now.
I wasn't working at all when my other two were born. Lady of leisure.

We had in very hot with only one thunderstorm this time in Florida, which is unusual too. Anytime we visited before it always rained every day and cleared the air. I do love the sun and heat, under the right circumstances though.....sitting by the pool sipping a cocktail. lol Not a chance in Scotland.

Not long to go now...4 weeks. You'll be counting down the days. Hope all goes well at the Doctors for her.
