Including the Foxsat HDR in with Home Network
YorkshireTV
10-08-2011
Hi Everyone.

I have recently taken the plunge and bought the Foxsat HDR 500gb after kicking services from Virginmedia and Sky into touch. No more paying ridiculous subscription prices again.
At the moment, I have a desktop PC running Serviio connected to my Sony Bravia TV's around the house. I have a 40in KDL40CX523 in the lounge and a 32in KDL32EX403 in the bedroom and all my media (video, photo and music) is piped to the tv's via Serviio.
I'd like to include the Foxsat HDR into this equation too if possible and wondered if anyone knows how it can be done, so that effectively the Foxsat HDR media list could be seen on any of the Sony Bravia TV's and played from the one STB.

I think I remember sometime ago reading about some non-official Foxsat HDR software that may be able to do this but not sure, so any suggestions or advice on how this could be achieved would be most appreciated.

I use Serviio as I found that Twonkymedia was not as reliable with the Sony Bravia tv's - Serviio seems to be the most stable and is actually recommended by Sony also.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions and thanks for reading.

Cheers

Not sure if it will do what you want though. HDR to PC works fine; HDR to TV over network seems to be problematic for a lot of people. I've never tried it personally, just read about people having problems!

Thanks guys , it would seem then that Raydon's Media and File Server Bundle for the FOXSAT-HDR Release 3c is the route I should take...

When I installed the Foxsat HDR yesterday, it told me that a software update was available but I ignored and installed without downloading the latest software update.

Have either of you used Raydon's Media & File Server Bundle and would you download the latest Humax Update before using Raydon's files or could I go ahead without the Humax update?
Thanks again for responding so quickly. Very much appreciated!

@icutedave - Thanks, I'll see how I get on although I am not the most technical person with anything like this...

Apologies for asking so quickly but having downloaded and extracted Raydon's files, there doesn't appear to be any installers for Serviio - several are listed including Twonkymedia but I have found that twonkymedia isn't stable with the Sony Bravia TV's...

Does anyone know whether there is an installer available for Serviio and where I might be able to find it. If not, has anyone any experience of Humax Foxsat HDR running Raydon's software with Twonkymedia and Sony Bravia TV's?

Thanks again.

Good luck with a Humax and a Sony! It'll be "challenging" to say the least...

Cheers,

Just as a heads up to anyone falling on this thread, I'm still struggling to get the KDL32EX403U to stream anything from the Foxsat HDR 500 with Raydon's software.

It seems that you have slightly more chance of success with the 2011 range of Bravia TV's compared to the 2009 / 2010 ranges. It's still very hit or miss and I'm still trying to find a solution.
