DTR80 lost all pictures after digital switchover

Hi,

I am in Sheffield, and had to retune today after digital switchover. All channels are found - but all of them have no picture. Does someone have any idea what has happened and how to fix it?

Thanks,

Mark

strange - I tried a retune which triggered it to powercycle instead, and now I have all the pictures!

We are getting ready for switch over (emley Moor) but at the moment I keep losing BBC1 & BBc2 for no apparent reason, and when BBC1 does come on the picture stops (sound keeps going) and then catches up sometimes for upto 5 mins. The council have just installed new ariels on our flats but the old one seems to work better (about 20 yrs old).
Could it be the Digihome boxthat is on its last legs and not going to work after switchover >

Could it be that your box is now picking up the new high-power BBC A MUX (as from 3.8.11) at Belmont (E Yorks & Lincs)? Are you getting the "wrong" Look North? If so, your box has tuned itself to Belmont (UHF channel 22).
Check this first, and let us know.

Indeed - I agree with that, especially if the new aerials are wideband and the old ones were not. If you goto the manual channel scan screen (installation menu) whilst on BBC1, it'll show you the UHF channel that the box is picking that channel up from. Also, do you have a BBC1 and BBC2 in the 800 number range by any chance? There is no technical reason why your Digihome shouldn't keep working after switchover - it probably has a few legs left yet .

Sorry for the late reply but been away for weekend.
Everything ok now. Tried what you said but couldn't see anything telling me the UHF channel and no channels in the 800 range.

For manual scan, goto setup, manual scan, and input the UHF channel number you're interested in. You'll get a signal display showing if there's a digital mux on that frequency, and if there is, the channel names are displayed for about 8 seconds.

Just had a look at the BBC1 signal and it is on UHF 52 as is BBC2
Recorded a programme on BBC1 last night and it was unwatchable jerky and stopping and starting for the whole hour.

If you want Emley Moor transmitter, then UHF 52 is correct. You may as well wait for digital switchover (7th & 21st September for Emley Moor), rather than try to sort out aerial problems now. What you're describing is down to lack of signal, but at DSO the transmission power will increase from about 10kW to 174kW. You shouldn't have a problem with lack of signal then!
