I had a couple of cans before work once (was sitting in the garden catching some rays). I thought they were a classier version of Carlsberg ( and didn't realise they were higher proof (or associated with tramps) - so I was surprised when I felt ever so slightly drunk.

It does give you a nice little buzz after half a can. I tamed the second can with cider and blackcurrent though
![]() I also remember having an alcohol free beer on my lunch break once at this same workplace, cause I like to have a beer out in the sun. And the look on the duty manager's face when he saw me, priceless. Didn't actually realise you couldn't drink on your lunch break, I thought I was being extra sensible by having an alcohol-free beer, but he was still pissed off with me.

I hope you weren't drinking Kaliber
![]() If I wasn't drinking in a pub i'd ask for water with ice. Why pay more for flat cola than you would for a nice cold refreshing pint |

Special Brew is disgusting, god knows how they make it taste so bad. I've had Belgian beers that were stronger and didn't taste like it so it's not the alcohol strength.

Made some snakebite from Special Brew and Strongbow Super some years back. It was near undrinkable, but with a bit of resolve, three of us drank the lot.
We were very drunk but surprisingly hangover free the next day. |

The tramps of my youth were more partial to a can of Tennant's Super or Special Vat cider ( 2 litre )
Where I live there are three popular locations popular with the local tramps. There is always a familiar crowd of them and they alternate between the three locations depending on the weather. Their current preferred tipple seems to large 2 to 3 litre bottles of Strongbow cider. I assume they are attracted by the 50% extra free bottles as sold by the local Londis and Spar shops. Tramps have an eye for a bargain it seems. |

In Italy they have Tennents Super on tap in a lot of bars.
The first few sips are rank, but then your tastebuds shut down and it tastes ok.. |

I drunk tennents supers everyday for years ....ended up on an alcohol unit , met a lot of carlsberg special drinkers there . Worse than smack really. Im not being judgmental or arsey about it....just saying , be careful like.
I don't know how anyone can drink lager, "special" or otherwise. It's insipid, yeasty muck.

Hopefully, the alcohol unit introduced you to the joy of real ales as a healthy alternative?

Tramps and Teenagers have the same drinking habits, whatever is cheap & plentiful or gets you pissed for the least amount of money.
