I also have speeds capped at 2mb ...not sure where the 1mb figure has come from.Still much slower than all the others apart from orange.
If you're getting 2mb you are not being capped. That's just the most you can get. HSDPA is only around 5mb per mast, so if 3 people are using it to download at the same time, you will get roughly 2mb. If there is only one mast serving you, like in my village, you get very slow speeds because of the amount of people using it.

I dont know the exact speed off the top of my head but I do know that a cap is in place on broadband not via a dongle on tmobile as these speeds are much higher than those ive seen on exactly the same location etc.

T Mobile tech services wont admit this but there are plenty of people who will confirm this , not just me.

The capped speed is around 384kbps. It definately exists. Some people shouldn't be getting capped though. For example, from the start of this year I was capped. They made a 'mistake', so they changed it back to uncapped, the way it was when I took my contract out.

Newer contracts will be capped at 384.

Hi there,

Is it true that T-Mobile UK have capped data speeds to around 384kbps?

If so, how do you get increased speeds

Thanks
I'm on T-Mobile contract and my data is unlimited with a fair usage policy of 1GB I think, but the positive side is once you reach the limit you still get unlimited access but at a slowed down speed instead of paying through the nose for it.

Edit: Didn't read the OP properly, thought he meant how much usage you get

The capped speed of 384 exists but there is another one for customers who are on web and walk plus for example which is a 2mb imposed cap.
