HaHa the word nonce always reminds me of Bad Girls.
Just another storyline by EastEnders going for an immediate shock-factor, I'd be suprised if any thought has even gone into it. |

I'm deeply uneasy about this storyline. I think ,even with the best writing in the world, it's going to be difficult to cover in a realistic and proper manner pre-watershed, never mind at 7.30 in the evening, and sorry to make the obvious point, but EE hasn't had the best writing in the world for a little while now. I'm not blinkered, I know this sort of thing does happen, but I'm not too sure 7.30 in the evening during a soap opera is the right time to explore it. I may be proved wrong, and it is brilliantly handled, but at the moment it has me feeling very uncomfortable, it sounds too much like a 'sensational' storyline, rather than a well thought out, thought provoking plot development.

Also, doesn't it sound a bit like Kat and Uncle Harry? Fair enough the two aren't related but it's yet another child born as a consequence of rape, be it "real" rape (Little Mo) or statutory rape (Zoe and now this new baby)
It's all a bit too much! |

its all just part of their sensationalist ideas, which come across as unrealistic and frankly, rather daft

Would it have been impossible for them to introduce a new family, as is desperately need at the moment, but make the 13 year old twins a normal cheeky and lively pair of mischive makers - maybe being hero worshiped by Ian's pair - leading them into bit of trouble, nothing too heavy.

good old EE, letting the characters bed in befire they give them big stories.
and what with the relentless misery. I know its always been a dreary little soap but now its just painful, we've got cancer, huntingtons, 13 year pregnant to 33 year old. The laughs just keep on coming. That said, EE can't DO humour, so maybe full on avoidnace of it is their new tactic. |

It does indeed sound like Kat and Uncle Harry but instead of seeing Demi deal with it years later as a woman, we're apparently going to see her go through it and deal with it as its happening, the pregnancy an that. I will reserve judgement until I see it but usually EastEnders will consult organisations like NSPCC before they screen storylines such as this, thats how the Kat and Zoe storyline was passed. Hopefully similar measures will be taken by the EE team to ensure this storyline is dealt with sensitively.

That is so typical of EE, always with the gritty realism. Their sensational storylines are getting them nowhere.. it's incredible how thick these writers must be that they can't recognise this.

It'll give Kat a storyline as "it all comes flooding back to her" and charlie slater who will know kats upset - not realise why at first - then realise - then think "oh i should have been there - shes famaleee" lol

I agree Ridget, people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon without actually thinking, hang on, we haven't seen it yet, theres a possibility it could be well handled and not at all like Kat an Uncle Arry

Yeah I know, people shouldn't jump to conclusions, its part of the problem, people immediatley slam EE stories without watching them first

I know! Fair enough AFTER the storyline has aired but beforehand is frankly stupid
How do they know that it will be badly acted? How do they know the script will be shit? How do they know it will be badly put together and thought out? If people didnt have such a negative view beforehand the storylines would be all the more pleasant. |

They might actually enjoy the show if they stopped making up their minds that its shit before its even happened, the new storylines I mean. Yeh whatever about afterwards can say what ye like but weeks before its even been screened, its just daft.

Yeh I'm going to start being an EastEnders fan.
It has been much better than Coronation Street in the past, and it's better at the moment. Anything's better than the newest street resident. |

Oh whatever Ben, you've made your point now about how crap Corrie is because of one character, now give it a rest.

Afterwards they can say what they want but to judge beforehand is daft. |

lol Benc you don't like Sean I take it.
I'm with you guys, I've despaired with the rest of you at the state of EastEnders this year but I've stuck with it because I'm a big fan of the show and I'm glad to say it is improving and tonight was a prime example of what they can do once they get the characters right. Now I know its a bit lame to think that Enders only has four characters who can make a decent episode, which is where the writing comes into it, an Tony Jordan really did well tonight. They should bring him back for more epis as he hasn't written for EE in a while. |
