In a battle of wills my cats would always win. They're stubborn creatures, a quality I admire about them. They always get what they want in my house.

I have tried Royal Cain, Whiskers, Iams (not keen on using this brand at all but it was on offer for a number of weeks) Brekkies, Purina one all were eaten!
However a book of Asda (Tiger) and Wilko cat food remain uneaten as that was totall refused.
Also very fussy with wet food. Pouches especially in gravy are accepted but canned food is not so easily accepted I.e Asda Tiger is totally out of the question and can sit there forever more without getting eaten.

I dont crap food myself and wouldn't want my cat to either. It's like eating mcdonalds every day.

I'd like to know as well. I feed my cat Iams and if it's doing her any harm then I'd really like to know.

What do people think of Natures Best? That stuff sends my cat nuts and not in a good way. She became very, very aggressive.
Oh nothing wrong with Iams as far as I know, seems like an average/good make overall compared to some, my cat gets on very well with it. It's just to do with all the terrible stories I have heard with the testing they do that makes it difficult to justify buying it often.

He really enjoys Aldi's dry food(in the red packet),and also Whiskas dry food.
I brought him some Feline Fayre, and Hi Life, but he won't even touch it, much prefer Sheba and Felix.

Doh! You mix the new with the old, a little to start with then a bit more, and so on.
And I also used to think they would eat what I put down, but when most of it was going out to the birds I gave up and switched until I found what they would eat - it didn't cost any more in the end. And guess what? They can read price tags! The dried food is James Wellbeloved, I belong to the breeder's club and buy direct at a rather preferential price.
Thankfully Minnie can't tell her chicken wings are the cheapest possible, not top-quality organic wings.

I mix and match with all sorts of things; Iams, Purina - Hi-Life went down well too. Also wet food like Sheba, and other posh-looking pouches and she also gets quite a bit of my food like cooked chicken, prawns, ham and tuna.
My two will only eat whiska's pouches in jelly. Although they like the jelly way more than the meat - if someone just made pouches of jelly I'd buy that instead! And they always have their biscuits. Go-Cat are a firm favourite but they will deign to eat tesco premium crunches if they HAVE to...
I've found the perfect mix.
A desert spoon of Tiger canned food, mixed in with a palm full of the dry stuff, and she eats every last morsel.
It economical, since there's absolutely no waste, and a can of Tiger lasts nearly a week.

Our kitten has gone onto Science Plan dry food. We gave him Whiskas kitten as well but he completely ignored the wet food once he had tried the wet food.
It was 12 or 13 quid for 1.5kg from the vets.
All I can say is, his poo stinks even more!

On Whiskas kitten, it smelt like Whiskas kitten but on Science Plan....wowzers!!

If I remember correctly Iams took part in (allegedly) cruel experiments on cats and dogs and were outed by Peta. And a few years ago there was something accidentally included in their cat and dog food that caused kidney failure in a number of animals.
I'm not scaremongering, info is all at the end of a Google search! I imagine their ethics and quality control is much improved these days!
We have to use Royal Canin dry food because one of my cats has a skin condition which is made worse by wet food and most dry food. Royal Canin seems to be the only one that keeps it at bay.
Plus they both love it and never turn their nose up at it.

My adopted cat ate most things at first (she had a previous diet of rats and mice). She loved the Aldi dry food then got bored. I then got her the Lidl wet food which she liked for a while, then got bored. The one she loves the most and doesn't get sick of is Hi Life from Home Bargains which is 45% min chicken - way more than most other cat foods. She did love GoCat for a while and is now bored of it unless she eats it out of my hand?!?!

My cat can't eat dry food as the vet said she is allergic to it (even though she really likes it) so she gets 3 pouches a day, felix or whiska's normally but we bought her Sheba this week and she loves it. Am going to try her again on dry food soon as she hasn't had it for a few years and she is still pulling her fur out and she has to go and get her teeth cleaned next week because as she doesn't eat biscuits the plaque has built up.
We are in the process of changing her cat litter as well to see if that could be causing her to itch, we get Tesco Value or Sainsbury Basic as all she is doing is going to the toilet so why waste the money on expensive ones when the cheap ones work just as well. But we are going to try the paper and wood ones instead of the gravel ones and see if that helps.

Watch out with changing from gravel to wood - it's a big change for a cat, and one they may not like as the textures are so different. My cat took umbrage and crapped behind the sofa when I tried. Straight back to gravel for me...

It wont hurt to try her and dont worry if she doesnt eat it straight away, she's probably testing you to get what she wants. Leave it down and she'll eventually eat it. Plus its very good for cats teeth.

It didn't work out having the 2 on different foods, so they're both on the same food now. We get a 10kg bag of Hills Prescription c/d online for approx €60. It lasts about 8 weeks (they get treats of roast chicken, tuna etc occasionally - as most cats do).
My calculations are that that is about €4 per week per cat.
They look great on it - even my cat hating friends and neighbours comment on the beauty of my cats - especially their coats.
It is worth getting the Hills or Royal Canin food. It also (in my opinion) works out the same financially, if not cheaper, than the cheap stuff you get in the long term.
