Sorry, but to say Antony Cotton can't act is absurd; he handled his emotional scenes in QAF2 with enormous skill and conviction.

I will admit to having misgivings when it was announced he was joining Coronation Street. But I thought his debut last night - admittedly helped by two of the best-written scripts this year - was rather splendid.

Just to qualify my statement, I don't dislike him because he is camp. Corrie has had its fair share of campness over the years already. Camp characters work in the show, but only if the actors are capable of executing it properly, and on the evidence of these (only two admittedly) episodes, the dire BBC3 sitcom he did and Queer as folk, I'm not overly optinistic for the future.

To be honest I never saw queer as folk 2, only the first series, I'm basing my views on that, what we saw tonight and the BBC3 sitcom he did.

I thought Anthony was very wooden in his first scene in the Kabin. After that though, I thought he improved and I liked Sean's interaction with the characters in the Rovers, like Deirdre, Blanche, Emily and Eileen of course. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt and think he could turn out to be a good character.
