Girls Aloud, Bananarama, The Saturdays, Spice Girls, Atomic Kitten ....

There's been quite a few girl groups over the years including the ones I've just mentioned. So which girl groups or songs of theirs do you like? Are there any girl groups (or their songs) not mentioned above that you like?

I personally like Girls Aloud (some fun feel-good pop songs) including 'Can't Speak French', 'Sound of the Underground', 'Rolling Back The Rivers in Time' and 'Call the Shots' and many more.

I like the following songs by The Saturdays which are 'Up', 'Forever is Over' and 'Issues'.

Although The Spice Girls were of course very successful, I just never took to any of their songs at the time and still can't get into any of them. Atomic Kitten have never really appealed to me either.

I also think Bananarama have had a string of fab songs too such as 'Robert de Niro's Waiting', 'Shy Boy', 'Cruel Summer', 'Really Saying Something' and a couple more.

I'll also give a mention to Bangles but I'd say they're more of a band than girl group. 'If She Knew What She Wants' is my fave of theirs.

Funnily enough I've never taken to any of the 'boy bands' that have been around. I do tend to go for male vocals though but in the sense of solo singers and bands.

Heart - Ann and Nancy Wilson - have always been my favourite 'girl band', in fact one of my favourite bands anyway.

They've had lots of great songs - Crazy On You, Barracuda, Alone, Magic Man.

I do like 'Alone' and 'All I Wanna Do is Make Love To You' - excellent songs. However like Bangles I think of Heart more of a band rather than a girl group if you see what I mean.

Thought of another girl group I like and that is The Veronicas.

Girl bands are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, but I love them

Girls Aloud are one of my favourite bands ever. They've had some amazing pop songs. My favourites from them would be Graffiti My Soul, Biology, Swinging London Town, Wake Me Up, Sexy No No No, Call the Shots, Girl Overboard, Crocodile Tears, Love is Pain, Crazy Fool, The Show.. quite a lot! Their solo careers haven't lived up to expectations imo. Cheryl's first album was good. Nadine had a few good songs on her album but not many. And Nicola... well the songs aren't BAD, I was just expecting a bit more.

I do like The Saturdays. Chasing Lights was a brilliant album but they haven't matched it yet imo. Up, Work, Wordshaker, Chasing Lights, Not Good Enough, all great songs.

I was never into Spice Girls when I was younger (I was about 6 when they came out, so I probably should've been but i wasn't). I do love 2Become1 and Say You'll Be There though.

Atomic Kitten never really caught me either. I remember being obsessed with their cover with The Tide is High when I was younger and I bought their greatest hits but that was about it. I can't stand Whole Again for some reason.

Sugababes I used to love and slowly went off, but I still love their old stuff. Their early stuff was brilliant. Freak Like Me, Bruised, Shape, Run for Cover, Hole in the Head, We Could Have It All, Can We Call a Truce would be some of my favourite songs by them. I don't wanna blame the line-up change - I do love Jade, her solo stuff was great - but I do miss the R&B sounds of 2.0

In 2004 I was absolutely obsessed with a girl band called The 411 - anyone remember them? I picked up their album in a charity shop a few months back and have been reliving their songs They released On My Knees, Dumb and Teardrops which all went top 20 IIRC but they were dropped :/ Dumb is still a brilliant song

I loved the crop of girlbands that came in 2009/2010 but none of them succeeded: Dolly Rockers, Mini Viva and Girls Can't Catch. The Dolly Rockers were pretty trashy, image and sound, but I did like some of their songs; How Did I End Up With U especially. Mini Viva getting dropped before we got an album was tragic. I have about 8 of their songs and they're all brilliant. One Touch, Emotions of Love, I'm Hooked are my favourites. Xenomania really are magic. Girls Can't Catch were underrated imo. They had some good songs; Stop and Turn me Up were very good. I could never see them succeeding but I did want an album from them!

I'm not keen on the current crop of girlbands that are Parade, Wonderland and Soundgirl. I can't warm to any of them. I gave the Wonderland album a listen and it was just boring. Belle Amie aren't very good either, but I do have my eye on Oh My!

....that was longer than I'd anticipated

I think the pussycat dolls did some great stuff in just the two albums they did. Whether they continue in a new form or not, they remain one of my favs

I also like Girls aloud (only from Tangled up onwards), Sugababes and Destiny's child.

The saturdays were great when they came out at first but their music is getting awful and they are trying too incredibly hard and it's awful to watch.

Eternal were brilliant. Their GH is perhaps one of my most treasured albums i have.

They were like a British En vogue.

The Saturdays just seem to get worse with every ****ing single. They peaked with their first album and will never do anything better.

Recently I've really gotten into old 60's girl groups like The Shangri Las and The Supremes.
Love these:

oh, absolutely.

Lust to Love

The Whole world Has Lost It's Head
Throw Me A Curve
Unforgiven

You should - it's the kind of 80's synth music I think you'd like

ALL SAINTS - I loved them they were so uber-cool. Black coffee, pure shores, Rock Steady, Chick Fit, Under The Bridge,

TLC - they were rather good I love; creep, unpretty, waterfalls, no scrubs, diggin on you

Spice girls- I loved the brand and the pop tunes. Kind of not aged well I don't think.

The person wwho mentioned Eternal as the UK version of En Vogue (I couldn't put it any better but I think Eternal have much better songs.) Such as; Someday, I am Blessed, Angel Of mine, Oh baby I, and their biggest hit 'I wanna Be The Only One.

I pretty much much like a lot of Sugababes stuff and very happy keisha got replaced as jade could take the band further imo. The new single is quite a good pop anthem and with a remix will be a hit in the clubs.

Destinys Child is another. First I heard of them was the Jumpin Jumpin single, other faves inc...independent woman, say my name, bootylicious, cater to you, soldier, lose my breath, body rock

Pussycat dolls are another that I absolutely loved but seein as only nicole scherzinger sang they should have been called Nicole and the Pussycat Dolls.

There's mystique scandalous that I really liked but atomic kitten were meh. Bewitched the irish girl group were refreshing. Currently I'm not into the new girlbands. I prefer the those from the last two decades (girls aloud not included).

Girls Aloud are my favourite girl band. I've been a fan ever since Popstars. I love their Greatest Hits album and listen to it regularly.
