Existing vision customer from july 2010 on bronze pack.

Decided to add sky sports 1 + 2.(asked first about contract details) subscriptions is per month no contract.

1st customer service person went thro details then before confirmation said it would be new 12 month contract ,due to no longer any bronze pack and i would be changed to new unlimited pack on a 12 month contract , I said no. He said (after being put on hold) i would transfer to someone else to proceed without 12 month contract.

He then transferred me to another customer service person ,
who then proceeded with adding sky sports to my account.

Checked email confirmation and there`s the dreaded 12 month contract starting 13 august.

Back on phone to bt vision to ask about 12 month contract ,
If i want skysports i have to go onto unlimited pack , which is on a 12 month contact.

No manager on saturday to make a decision about contract or not.

Asked them to cancel adding skysports , then told cancellation fee , which i assume will be 12 x £12.50 + 1 or 2 x £17.40(sports 1+2).

Someone will call on monday to say what options are open
to discuss.

What a palaver, hopefully all will be resolved amicably.

Anybody know the email address to the ceo at bt vision.

Rant over (for now).

Sky Sports is on a month by month contract, so you can cancel anytime with 30 days notice. When I added Sky Sports, (when it was first launched), I had to sign up to new 12 month contract.

Since then, I signed up to a new 24 month contract in Dec 2010, to get Infinity, and as a consequence I now have Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £12.30 PM.

First got BT in August 2010 taking the bronze pack, 12 month contract.

Then changed to Full Unlimited (Gold Pack) in December - told another 12 month contract would now commence.

Then took Sky Sports two weeks ago, and without being asked I have had letter from them stating my new 12 month contract has started from August 2011

Whats going on?? - you only have to f@rt and you get stuck with another 12 months.

If I took now took Sports off for a month and then back on a couple of months later I assume another 12 months will kick in again from that point.

?????

Sounds like the new contract part is on the Gold pack not sports, i.e. you could add Sky Sports month by month once you have re-signed to the Gold pack for a further 12 months.

Shady way to do business but thats BT, doesn't sound strictly legal to me.

just thinking...would the distance selling regs not come into it? (assuming you let them know within 7 days that you didn't want it)

I was thinking along those lines last night(distance selling regulations).I informed them within 1/2 hour of signing up.

Will look on vision website for T&C`s.

I could understand new contract for skysports,

You would think it would be like sky for existing customer`s who no longer subscribe,

Bit of an over reaction? Maybe just a mistake.

not really, just truth.

Tying of 2 product sales in that way (if as the OP describes) is illegal.

as I said, with a long history with BT, both personal and B2b, it would not surprise me..

Update
Was told on saturday that someone would call today to resolve issue, nobody did.
Called when i got home from work.

Saturday`s 2 customer service agents didn`t give all the options , turns out you can stay on bronze old pack without a contract & add sky sports 1 + 2.

Not an illegal act then?
