Also there's an example on YT
I have seen the film but 'blue steel' didn't stay with me

I thought it was a lovely AT - very intense, if not 'flicky' and I thought Cat looked lovely in 2010 (It takes all sorts )
It was very sultry and sexy. Sorry we will have to agree to differ about Cat Deeley. I thought she looked awful in SYTYCD UK. Are those mini skirts still fashionable.

The choreographers that they use for Argentine tango do two different styles of Argentine tango. That is the slow sensual kind but they have also choreo'd the one with the leg flicks. Pasha did one with Caitlyn this season that was also choreo'd by this same couple. As you can see it is a little different.

I do know that Flavia and Vincent set the standard for AT.

Thank you Lili27. I prefer the style of the second video. I wonder if Pasha will choreograph his own tango or whether it will be choreographed for him in SCD

Cat has been teasing Pasha about his "blue steeling" since the beginning because he is so emotive when he dances. He takes it in stride.

Hi, I'm new to DS and this is my first visit to this thread. Lili27 thank you for all the links. It has been very entertaining viewing the dances. pasha is a great asset to SCD. I think he will provide not only wonderful dancing but healthy competition to this series. He obviously has a wealth of experience. What is Anya doing now?

Welcome Anam Cara. I am glad you enjoy the board. I really don't know what Anya is doing presently but hopefully she will twitter her next project.

Since Pasha is not known in the UK (unless you saw his season). I was trying to find videos and articles that I thought were interesting and help introduce him while we were waiting for series to get started..

Here is an interview with the winner of this year's sytycd US Melanie. She did one dance with Pasha, a VW that was really a study in lift technique. It was choreographed by Jason Gilkinson of BTF and you know he never stays in the box. They did not go in hold but there were a lot of lifts. The lifty dance.

Here she is talking about Pasha's bootcamp for lifts.

TVLINE | Let’s talk about the Viennese Waltz you did with Pasha, because it was your one ballroom moment. I thought it was interesting how the judges pointed out the high degree of difficulty in transitioning into and out of all the lifts, and the way the two of you maintained the fluidity of the motion from beginning to end.

Quote:
I was so relieved [about the feedback] because Pasha basically put me through boot camp. He had me carrying Gatorade bottles, and if he could see the bottle moving on my hand, then I wasn’t doing it right. Because it’s the Viennese Waltz, it has to be so smooth, so pretty, and so light on your feet, and I had to dance without a partner for half [of our rehearsals], carrying the Gatorade bottle in my hand, and making it look like it wasn’t moving. If Pasha saw it move, he’d be like, “No, no, no. Do it again, Melanie!” I was like “Pasha, are you serious?” It was really hard. I was glad the judges pointed it out, but on the other hand, it’s my job to make it look easy.
TVLINE | How exactly did you hold the Gatorade bottles? And were they empty or full?

Quote:
I had to balance the bottle on my hand. Pasha was so serious. He was not playing around with that. It was the bottle I was drinking out of, so I could stop and take a sip every now and then
.

The lifty non VW dance. Don't get mad at Pasha now for this choreo - it's Jason Gilkison.

Let's face it Lili, without all these vids etc, we'd be left with one tweet and one twitpic from James . Keep 'em coming

Thanks Fridgesoup. There is so much mystery right now and very little info. SCD will be very different than sytcd but I have faith that Pasha will be a good teacher and hopefully choreograph to please the SCD crowd.

When he was doing his work as an all star I would see tweets from the girls about what a good and patient teacher he was.

I miss a little bit of the day working and I miss some good stuff. It does take all sorts on your preference on the AT, both of the one's I have seen Pasha do are fantastic but different. Are they comp ready? No not really because that is not how this show does their ballroom formatting. He can do his own Choreography and I suspect he will on SCD (can't say for 100% of course I can't ask him.)

Anya is working on some projects, what I am not sure but she tweeted about something in LA.

And now..a plethura of videos I am sorry if Lil has posted some of these already but well I have a complete and large favorites section marked PASHA *blush*

I like to call this one the Unveiling may have even posted this one already.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH5Ik4bcjlQ

The Paso, to me lovely routine Hot for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e9surVuDyg

Mr Pinstripe Quikstep from season 3 Pasha's season as a contestant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azM2lv4LXzk

and..a non ballroom one. I love this broadway routine.

I liked Pasha and Jessie, I loved Pasha and Sara together. He really has the partner thing down (just like my other favorite contestant, Mark Kanemura).

The West Coast Swing that Benji choreographed is one of the best dances ever on SYTYCD.

I wish the video contained the practice because it was hilarious in the training room with Benji. He and Sara were so much fun. And Pasha shared what America does not know about him and it was funny to see him showing what he does when he is not dancing.

This was a tweet from Sasha Mallory who did the quickstep with Pasha this season. She came in 2nd.

Quote:
Pasha is without a doubt so extraordinary and i wouldve never made it through that quickstep if he werent so unbelievably supportive and such an outstanding teacher. ill never mess up on my lock steps ever again

Love the first one ('unveiling' - lol ). I thought Christina did a good job, but it was hard not to just watch Pasha and Anya.
The paso is certainly dramatic
Not super-keen on the pinstripe quickstep (more the costumes than anything ).
Great Broadway number

Thanks LadyAmbrosia

This is one of Pasha and Anya's performances on DWTS. Pasha looks so happy when he dances cha cha. He beams.

It was lovely that the Strictly Professionals were able to welcome Pasha informally at Natalie's birthday celebration.

It was also quite reassuring that the original members of SCD, James and Brendan, were both complimentary about Pasha. The dance floor is going to be rather crowded if all five of the guys dance a paso routine. I have left out Anton and Vincent because they don't do the hunk routines!

Lili/27, I think you mentioned Artem didn't have any ballet training. I am sure Pasha said in an interview that he, Pasha, did have some ballet training as a child. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, very thoughtful because since no one had mentioned him I thought maybe he wasn't that welcomed into the pro group as a newcomer.

I read James' twitter but I don't know what Brendan said. What did he say?

As I recall back when Artem did his series someone asked him if he had ballet and he said no which was so surprising because he is so graceful and elegant. Artem's spins are gorgeous. He looks like he did have ballet training.

Pasha has said in interviews more than once that he has had both ballet and jazz training. I don't think it was a lot though. He drew jazz twice on sytycd and he did pretty good with both dances considering that Mia did not want him in the top 10 but Mary fought for him and Nigel wanted him to go through.

I did read Monkeal's blog and what he had to say about Pasha and I agree. I think it was a good assessment and he will be unfavorably compared to Artem but that is to be expected because Artem is so good and has set a very high standard. Also they have different style of dancing and people have a preference for what they like.

I do believe that Pasha will do the best that he can with his celebrity and he will gain fans as the season progresses if he can stay in long enough where they can get know him. I love both of them and I believe in Pasha just as I believed in Artem when he first came to Strictly as an unknown untested pro.

*pops her head back in and waves around her pasha postcards hot off the presses..will post Pictures later*

Pasha is the underdog at this point, because he is new. To me that is what it boils down to, not because he is Russian and so is Artem because he is new. I like Artem I like Artem a great deal. I am excited to see some friendly rivarly which i am sure will be between the pair, because they are fellow dancers, it is going to be that way across the board I think

Lil is right everyone has a preference in what they find appealing. I love Artem as a dancer I do he is a fantastic wonderful and talented dancer nothing can take that away from him.

I do however prefer Pasha, some of that could be built in biased from following his career so long and well before SYTYCD we always are partial to our favorites no? But for me personally I also prefer his general build, look and the way he moves it is completely different than Artem, because they are different dancers.

That said, I think the Rumba between Artem and Kara is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen you can see the passion the sensuality the love in every movement.

My favorite dancer better bring his A game for sure that said though I have no doubt that he will he always seems to. A game and that sweet charming smile and personality.

But hey I fully admit to being a bit biased, but I like Artem too.

Pasha's two dances with Lacey Schwimmer.

These are megavideo so you have to click twice, annoying but contains both practice and judging.

Two Latin ballroom dancers attempting a hip hop.

http://www.megavideo.com/?d=T09FTHRS

A smooth waltz. I love this dance. Very simple and romantic and I thought they both did a great job.

Pasha

I have to apologise. Brendan posted a training photo after his wife criticised the number of overseas dancers. I mixed it up with Ricky Whittle's tweet. Ricky of course wasn't a Strictly professional but he was a contestant on SCD who danced with Natalie Lowe.

When I tried to watch the last two videos I must have done something wrong because I kept getting adverts.
