Tony Jordan to take over from Louise Berridge?
Rumours around this morning suggest that Tony Jordan is being lined up to take over as Exec Producer when Ms Berridge leaves next year.

Thats funny you should say that as at the end of EastEnders last night I did think would he take over as Producer, he's been writing for EastEnders for ages now, an if last nights was anything to go by he could well bring EastEnders back to its full glory.

That would be really good, he's generally a fab writer, hope his talent carries over into the EP role.

Tony Jordan used to be a market stall holder didn't he?
He's one of Eastenders key writers but he's also a storyline contributor (although goodness knows what storylines he's contributed in the last year or so) so I'm just wondering if he actually has any skills as a producer which is really what this role is about. I work in television and writers write and producers produce. I'm not convinced. |

I think he's been writing for other dramas this year, haven't noticed him on many EE closing titles. He's been writing a lot for Holby I noticed.

I'm not convinced it would be a good idea either - as you say, writers write, they don't executive-produce. It's a completely different set of skills. They should NOT lose him as a writer.
However TJ has written very few EE eps lately, I can only think of two in the past three months, he seems to do 'specials' like last night. Rather, he is listed as 'chief storyliner'. This is rather worrying, as some of the storylines in the past year have been atrocious. I think he should stick to what he's good at - WRITING. Last night's ep was great. |
