I really am not feeling the Vincent and Ronnie stuff!

Cor dear! It's taken me a while but I've managed to catch up on 3 weeks worth of EE. Now I'm back on track I don't want to get behind again.

It was such a delight to see Ron back on our screens again. I am shipping Vincent and Ronnie (He calls her "my Ronnie blue eyes" *swoon!*) but I've been reading that they aren't good for each other so that's spoiling my mojo.

The scenes with Matthew were just magical. How freaking long have we been waiting for this?? FAR too long!
I want her to change Matthew's name though, I don't think it's very Ronnie, and besides, didn't Roxy choose it?

I may have missed it so what is Ronnie's medical diagnosis exactly? She can speak(ish) but can't walk or move her arms. Oh. I keep staring at the screen caps I've saved of Ronnie holding her son. Oy I'm welling up again.

BIB - Agreed. She has this beautiful way of connecting with the audience through her emotions without saying a single word. She does so much with nothing.

I agree too. I could watch Ronnie for a full 30 minutes without her speaking because you would still know how she's feeling. Sam would be good in a silent movie

I have a feeling I am not going to like Ronnie being taken down the Darth Varder route which I think is where this is heading.
Glad to see Ron on our screens but such a shame that it seems like there are no plans to have any focus on Ronnie as a mother any time soon.

I suppose it is too hard to fit that angle of the story into Ronnie's storyline with so many Carter caraoke dinners to slot in, Mick losing it, Linda frowning and Shirley smirking every other scene. roll eyes

It's such a shame because this is a big deal to Ronnie and her fans - her baby is 4 months old and thriving. Yes she can't do much but I would rather see her asking for her baby, holding him more and pushing herself in physiotherapy.
Everything this year has been so glitchy. She wakes up in Feb then nothing more happens until nearly 2 months later.
No comments about her missing out on Matthew's beginnings, no worries about her baby dying or anything that reflects her past. But then I guess we can't have everything huh?

And they have to sit down for a nice meal and sort things out as a family.

I miss Aunt Sal.

I reckon Vincent's family will move in to Carol's. Maybe Ronnie can move in too get her away from Roxy!

Ronnie is low on the credits all next week so looks like her storyline will take second place to the boring Carters.

I have really missed her character. Eventhough they are going down the mad Ronnie route, it is really great to see her back.

BIB That's fantastic considering that she had only been in one episode this year; New Year's Day when the voting started. And the last two storylines prior to that were baby swap and Carl White.

It is but there seems to be a lot of love for the new bad Ronnie. Ronnie has always been flawed and controlling but it seems DTC has forgotten the origins of the character. Its like their brains can only go back as far as 2013 now which is disappointing.

She always wants to off someone. That isn't Ronnie. Ronnie is about family - Roxy, Amy, Phil, Matthew etc... Its like her controlling has upped 600 notches she wants to kill anyone that gets within 5 yards of her family.

If you are to show 'bad' Ronnie, then you MUST balance that out and show her vulnerable/good side with Matthew otherwise Ronnie simply becomes a villain with no heart at all and becomes one dimensional. Personally I feel Janine became one dimensional in her more recent stint.

All the important scenes with Mathew have been ignored - the first meeting, what she thinks about a name given to her by Aleks/Roxy. Nothing,

Obviously any Ronnie time is better than no Ronnie time but I can't help be disappointed with the route they are taking with her.

If they want to focus on new Ronnie then look back at her stint in prison that changed her maybe? Phil said she is her dad but even Archie never killed anyone.

This may sound controversial on here as Shirley is popular but for me, DTC has rewritten Shirley into his new Ronnie - trying to make Shirley some kind of tragic heroine trying to pull our heart strings but it doesn't work for me - not like Ronnie because we have seen her past play out unlike Shirley who was a selfish cow for 6 years on the show.

The Carters are all about 'Family', Shirley has a secret child its all so copying the Mitchells. It seems Shirley is the ONLY character DTC created that hes interested in doing anything good with - Roxy is going backwards, Ronnie is evil, the Masoods are fighting for air time.

Its all just boring Dean, Shirley and Mick on my screen ALL the flaming time! Ronnie was squeezed into 5 minutes on Tuesday just so we could have Tina CARTER's birthday!!

I was really happy DTC was taking over but it seems whilst hes good at drumming up stories hes just as obsessive over his own creations as Kirkwood and Newman were. What makes DTC's deadwood any better than theirs?!

Ronnie (and Stacey for that matter) should be at the forefront of the show - they are not background characters. They get less screen time then Lee and Nancy who are background characters.

I totally agree. It is very disappointing that we seem to be fast forwarding to mad Ronnie and ignore her complexity. You would have thought that Kirkwood was still in charge the way this has been handled. Kirkwood came in with one idea, Ronnie was the evil so she would swap the babies, underestimating Ronnie's complexity and popularity.
DTC on the other hand doesn't have an excuse, he created Ronnie. What is he thinking?

I agree with a lot of your guy's points and I'd love to elaborate on them and explain my own thoughts but for now I'll just say this.

Archie never a killer, but I would argue he didn't need to. He toyed with the idea of killing Danielle, but clearly even Archie wasn't sociopathic enough to be able to kill the human equivalent of bambi. He was still abominable so he hardly gets points for it. Psychopaths have been known to help old ladies cross streets you know.

HOWEVER and this is a point I will go into with more detail later - Ronnie's killing of Carl is an issue of it's own and I can understand how and why it happened. I refuse to accept just because she did this she's worse than Archie. Ronnie is Messed. Up. I fundamentally disagree with SO much of her behaviour since she's returned in 2013. Her wanting that drug dealer killed is NOT OK, and IMO this action more than almost anything else she's done brings her closer to Archie than even some of her technically worse behaviour IMO. Because two of her worse acts were not born of sociopathic nature(initially anyways she channelled the sociopath a few times but not during the act of either of her crimes).

Yes, this man is a drug dealer - but we know nothing else about him. We don't have if he has a nice side. And yes it's unfortunate what it means for Dot. AND anyway what is totally over the top about Ronnie wanted him DEAD is if he must not show for Dot's trial there are less permanent ways of achieving this, no? I don't know have Bomb - Waiting - to - Explode Vincent pay him off, kidnap him for a few days, I don't know - but at least it's not killing.

Also, I am no Roxy fan. I will never like her but what the bloody hell was Ronnie thinking paying Aleks to see her. Like, I said I don't like Roxy but that is such disturbing behaviour. yes, you may find it strange THIS act of Ronnie's I find totally unforgiveable and not you know swapping babies and bashing Carl's head in - but there were complex and some sympathetic reasons behind both of those. You do not f*ck with people's lives just to play God. So is Ronnie a villain? She'd definitely half of one at least in my eyes.

But then - should we care? Roxy forgives Ronnie in days for paying Aleks to date her, and Ronnie forgives Roxy in minutes for sleeping with her husband. So...whatever, if you're both fine with it then there's nothing I or anyone else could do except recommend a joint psychiatrist for the both of you.

The one thing that really puzzles me is how there isn't any effort at all to show how having a child has affected Ronnie.
Would she want to risk getting in trouble by wanting people getting rid off when she finally has a chance to be a mum? I don't think so.
Also since when was Ronnie obsessed with having a family, as in a husband? I don't think she cared much about a husband. As long as she had a child she was happy on her own. No idea why she would be so desperate to get back with Charlie. Ronnie pre 2013 wouldn't care less about Charlie as long as she had Mathew. Had they written her as desperate to protect her family because she is dependant on Charlie atm when it comes to Mathew, custody etc I would understand, but otherwise it doesn't resonate with Ronnie to me, especially when it is clear and she has said so herself, that she doesn't have any strong feelings for Charlie.

Hi, so I haven't posted in these parts for years but apparently I still like Ronnie enough to start watching Eastenders for her again.

I stopped around the baby swap and since then caught the odd episode like when she got out of prison or when she killed Carl so thats a good excuse to catch up on youtube (although I'm a little sad about how many of the early episodes that are missing now). I may have to go and find some old decent fan fiction.

I'm not that keen on Charlie but then I didn't meet him till after he slept with Roxy. Why do they always pair Ronnie with such wet blankets? I know Jack was meant to be an independent, complicated guy but all he ever did was sleep with blondes.

Anyway I'm more interested in her darker side but I don't ever want Ronnie to become a straight forward villain. Yeah she's done some terrible stuff but she's always had a reason and doesn't purposely do things to hurt people.

Random question, what was the deal with Archie's ring? there were episodes where she was wearing it but where did she get it from? And has she still got it?

I'm probably going to have a lot to say on current storylines but I still feel a little disconnected as I don't watch all the time/haven't completely caught up.

Roxy found Archie's ring in a pawn shop and gave it to Ronnie and she started wearing it around the time she killed Carl. When Charlie proposed she took Archie's ring off but as far as I know she still has it she just doesn't war it - I think its symbolic - every time she wears it are the times she is unhappy and 'evil' Ronnie starts plotting so it would not surprise me if she wears it again soon.

It'll be good to see her out of hospital when she goes to Dot's trial.

To be honest with you, you are not missing much. EE has been a boring shambles for a long time (since 2010). And I am a fan since 1985. Its only Ronnie and maybe the Kathy's return storyline that I am sticking around for. I would be more than happy to switch off permanently from the show.
