Also this week went to see Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific at the Barbican theatre. You cant go wrong with this musical featuring the following songs, A Cockeyed Optimist, Some Enchanted Evening, Bloody Mary, There is Nothing Like a Dame, Bali Ha'i, I'm Gonna Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair, Younger than Springtime, Happy Talk and I'm in love with a Wonderful Guy. The star of the show is Loretta Abels Sayre, she comes from America and is undoubtedly one of the great performers from across the pond. It plays at the Barbican until 1 October and then tours the country.

Thanks for this.
However unless there is a mistake, this is probably old as the 6th of October is a Thursday

She must be so happy. Is this the college Sam is a patron off?
She probably helped her to get a place there.

Not sure who wrote this, kinda ripped the piece out... from the Evening Standard yesterday;

Quote:
“Tears of joy at South Pacific”

Quote:
“To the Barbican to see South Pacific, a musical that makes my husband cry every time. This is a version of the production I'd seen in the Lincoln Centre, and unusually it has opened in London first before touring in a few weeks. Do catch it. It's a much smaller affair than the whizzy version I saw in New York but it has to be, as it's got to travel.
It's hit after hit after hit, and in the final scene, I glanced to my left. Ivo had removed his glases, as the tears were by now spouting horizontally from his eyes as he watched Emile de Becque's poignant return to his house on the Polynesian hill. The show is cornier than Kansas in August - but even I was a little moist as the curtain came down.

* * * * * 'That's some enchanted evening! Faultless!' (daily mail)

'Samantha Womack gives the best performance of her career' (baz bamigboyle daily mail)

Why does it say Tuesday the 6th of October? And also it is a bit strange it says Sam, who plays Ronnie in EE.
The language of the article and the dates make it seem like it is past event.
Maybe it is a typo.

Daniel Koek who plays LT Cable in South Pacific has just Tweeted that hum and Sam are way to this place to sing some songs from South Pacific to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital

Thanks

It is nice that they are still in touch and hopefully Rita is doing as she promised, trying to convince Sam to come back.
I have mixed feelings about it considering the dire state EE is in, but if Ronnie was to return, the earliest it will probably be, is Christmas 2012 and by then B.K would have gone so maybe with a new producer (hoping it is a good one) Ronnie can come back.

I'm the same. I'd probably just watch Ronnie and Roxy's scenes if Sam chooses to return one day.

I've been having a clearout and came across some TV magazine covers with Ronnie on. Really hit home how much I miss her; I had a sentimental moment.

Eventhough I already knew that Sam wasn’t nominated in the TV choice awards or the IS awards as we saw the list of original nominations, seeing the shortlist now, reminds me how unprofessional EE have been to leave her out of any nominations.

I wrote a long post in the awards thread but she is the only actress that has been blatantly ignored.
Lindsay has been nominated in all the awards from BSA-s to the current ones. Nina too and the other actresses haven’t had much to do. It is just their lack of popularity amongst the voters, which lets face it are young ones, that neither of them didn’t make the shortlist.
Sam on the other hand hasn’t even been nominated. Shocking.

I know she won’t lose any sleep over it and she seems to be enjoying the break from EE, but it is an insult to leave her out of everything.

KIkrwood needs to go before Ronnie ever does return. He has ruined EE for me. I have watched it 26 years prior to him getting his mitts on the show and I have switched off since July and I only watched early 2011 episodes because of Ronnie - and I hated the babywap storyline.

THe show is too important to let him control. I thought the community under Santer was better (although the community didn't connect under Santer) but Kirkwood must have cleared out about 80% of characters under Santer and its no longer EE for me (I have never known such a clear out in one go (well maybe 2003/4 and ratings sunk to a new low!))

Everywhere I have looked (articles, forums, EastEnders website), people have been asking where Sam is on the shortlists which makes me smile as people out there are recognising her and would vote if they had a chance to. I've also seen letters in TV magazines stating that Sam had left them in tears with her performances in the baby swap storyline. I hope Kirkwood has noticed this. I was very surprised Nina was put up in the first place as she hasn't been as prominent as Sam in early 2011. I think the best performance she gave was in the rape reveal personally. Not the best episodes but just how she delivered the lines, it was powerful stuff. It's why I'm furious that Sam wasn't even put up. Even if she didn't win, it would have been a nice nod.

I agree about Kirkwood. I've not watched avidly since July 7th but I've watched the odd one and I know what's going on due to TV mags, etc, It's just focusing on characters I don't really care about. Roxy's the only main character keeping me interested yet they're wasting Rita. Maybe it's just me as I'm feeling the same way about Doctor Who at the moment but I definitely haven't felt enthusiastic about EE since Ronnie and Jack's wedding last year.
