Roxy's storyline of losing the money was just ridiculous. Forget everything else, the Weymouth mansion alone is completely uncounted for. They couldn't have two millionaires on the square but I think they should have let Roxy be the millionaire. It suited Roxy better and Janine would have been better imo being a single mum trying to provide for her daughter.
Maybe the new producer would remember the mansion and make Roxy rich again.

I really don't want them to put Roxy with Alfie though. I know she will be a plot device.
I keep imagining Roxy getting to a point where she is struggling and for Ron to come back at the end of the episode and say something along the lines of "I told you I would still be there babes, Mitchell sisters forever"


What does everyone think of Jack and Sharon?

BIB - I don't "get" that pairing. I think there is no chemistry between them and it feels kind of forced. Jack is happy to spend time with Dennis (refuse to call him Denny - sorry) yet fails to mention his own two sons.
I have this really horrible feeling that Jack will turn out to be Kat's fancy man. I don't want him to but EE made him the father of Richard, so...

For once, he should date a woman with no/less baggage. And date I mean proper dating.
Pref a brunette. The more blondes he is with, the more he becomes of a laughing stock.
And they should bring Penny back over. Her mom drops her off having had enough of her tantrums

I see no chemistry there either and seems out of character for Jack to some degree. I doubt Jack would be chasing after Sharon, a woman who gave it to him on a plate, clearly one with baggage too and I can't see what would the attraction be on his side.
His marriage and loss of child should technically be still very sore so he would logically want to be away from any complications for still some time. So the only way for this to have been slightly believable would have been to show that he still very messed up, doesn't know how to deal with missing his beloved wife and son, hence is after some sort of poor replacement for Ronnie as a way to manage. Since it doesn't seem that is the reason, it makes no sense at all.

I also agree I don't want him to be with yet another blonde ex-Mitchell as it has become very tired and cliche, not helping to change the image of the character much. If he was in a committed relationship I would want it to be with a brunette.

I also find it very irritating that the writers have him playing daddy to Dennis Jr, yet he never sees or mentions his own children. You would have thought the purpose or outcome of the character losing his son, his wife, the custody battle over Amy, would make him more determined to be shown as a father to the ones he has got left. Brian Kirkwood messed the character so much with Richard and his predecessor doesn't seam like is doing much to change that.

I bet 99% of the viewers reckoned the producers would put Jack with Sharon as soon as she came. Why, because the writing for Jack has become so predictable.

I think Jack's salvation is Penny, but they bring Joey and Alice to give Derek something to do, yet no plans whatsoever for Jack and to bring Penny, who would as a teenager herself have depth given the background and is also already established.

Yeah it is better than nothing. I hope that once she has done the filming in Kenya she will start off with the next project. Although the documentary is not aired until March time, Sam would have finished filming way before that, so she would be free to start working on another project in the next month or so.

A Ronnie mention last night. They also showed a letter with her name arriving at Jack's flat.
I am still waiting for a mention from Roxy though. I wish they had explored Roxy in the aftermath of temporarily losing Ronnie too, instead of the chasing after man they gave her. The thing with Max was pretty awful, sprang out of nowhere.

In some respects Roxy has grown well since Ronnie has left but does she still visit her? Last we heard she was still prepared to see her sister. I personally could not care less about the letter but I hated rack.

But on a rack related subject if he is the shagger the only reason I would accept it if it was about Tommy. But it obviously is not, as its not like he wants to see Tommy and as a result of that builds a bond with Kat. I could just about understand that. But having sex in some flea infested bedsit with Tommy's mother? Smacks of disrespect to his dead sons memory if he views her like that. Shows even more disrespect to Ronnie (divorced or not like you do not shag through the family, sleeping with Kat considering is off). And even as a non rack fan I would see that disrespect to what happened with everything with him and Ronnie. If it is him I hope he is written out with Kat. Who got her son and was supposed to be scared of ever leaving him alone? Remember that speech to Ronnie even mentioned going to the loo. Not so scared to go out, get pissed lots and sleep in a grotty bedsit hey Kat
So glad Ronnie got away from this mess. I think I would have hated it even more if he was a suspect when they were still together.

I'm not a Sharon/Jack fan either. Partly because I feel Sharon isn't being used to her full potential and also because it's shockingly predictable :yawn: I think they have fairly good chemistry but I just don't like them together - it just feels a bit forced IMO. I'm not a massive Sharon fan, I think she's a bit overrated - but the character has interesting qualities and I like her newly found friendship with Tanya but I didn't want her to get tangled in with Jack.

I'm glad they finally mentioned Ronnie. Roxy seems to have completely forgotten about her. I still can't work out if Jack is over Ronnie - we haven't really been given any indication either way. I think he's trying to move on, but does still love her. When Michael said to Jack about having a wife in prison and Jack said 'that's why she's my ex wife' - I took that to mean that because she was in prison, that was the reason for the divorce because that's what Ronnie wanted. When Michael/Jack were in the office gym there was a picture on the wall of RACK on their wedding day. I want Jack to move on - don't get me wrong, but I think it's weird he never mentions Ronnie or James and I think him and Sharon are a far too predictable pairing.

I completely agree. Nothing to do with liking Jack and Ronnie as a couple or not, but I too, took last night’s scene with the letter addressed to Ronnie and the discussion with Michael, to mean that Jack has not moved on at all from Ronnie.

Investing in Sharon is just an attempt to find a way to try and move on. At the moment is just on rebound, a coping mechanism. So I am glad Ronnie’s existence is not forgotten and it was quite realistic and subtle way to show that Jack is still struggling.

Nice touch about the photo in the gym. In the early scenes of Jack with Sharon in her return episodes, I thought I spotted Ronnie’s picture with Roxy still on display in Jack’s house.

If I didn’t know better I would have thought Ron might return. She is due to be released in December. How has the time flown?

So many times in EE, characters are only mentioned if they are about to return. Of course I know this isn’t the case with Ronnie because I doubt Sam is planning to return, not anytime soon anyway, but it was really good to keep some consistency there. It is realistic that Jack hasn’t moved on and it will actually take him a really long time to do so properly, if ever.

But like I said yesterday I really want Roxy to mention her and James. It makes no sense that Roxy doesn’t.

Regarding Roxy, like I said I don't her to be put with Alfie in a romantic relationship but I am glad that she will be behind the bar soon. That place needs some life injected into it. It is a complete damp squib at the moment with Kat behind the bar.

I think its more the situation Jack is not over than Ronnie which makes sense. Losing your child, never been able to hold them, have closure with a funeral etc hurts more than divorcing your wife. Neither him or Sharon are in a good place maybe thats why they are drawn to each other rather than actual feelings. What is annoying me about Jack is how he hardly bothers with his own kids but is all over Denny because he basically want to shag the child's mother but like Ronnie, Roxy, Sam, before her he has never really shown a woman respect. Unless he matures then he will keep making the same mistakes and not be able to be with anyone. I certainly do not see Sharon sticking with him long term. Both Ronnie and Sharon would do better with men who actually respect them rather than shag through their families getting them pregnant Jerry Springer style or use their kids to get the mother into bed. And if turns out to be Kat's shagger with no respect for the Tommy situation then it really does show disrespect both to Ronnie and their dead baby. And like I said even as a non Rack fan that pisses me off. Do they really need to piss on Ronnie's arc like that? Mind you after what they already did to her nothing would surprise me. Ronnie could accept him moving on but I think it would really hurt her if it was Kat and how it was nothing to do with Tommy.

I can not see Ronnie returning nor would it be realistic for her to come back to the square when she gets out. But I would LOVE for Roxy to mention her more and after she gets out mentions that she has found a real catch and is happy. Show Jack what a loser he was to treat her like that in the first place.

Away from this does anyone know when this documentary is going to be aired? I am really missing Sam for our screens? Is she taking a backseat while her husband works? I can sort of understand if she wants to spend more time with her kids. I guess I am just selfish and would love to see something new. I would love her to get her own series.

I think the comic relief documentaries are shown around March time so I assume we won't see the Kenya trip before then. I am happy to be proved wrong though. I miss seeing Sam. I suppose things like "Who wants to be a millionaire", "Who do you think you are", "Comic Relief" are good but I really want to see her back regularly, doing a show. It has been too long now.

I agree about Jack. If he is revealed to be Kat’s affair the character is just beyond any hope of ever being restored.
Realistically he shouldn’t be though as nothing we have seen is in character for it to be him. Falling in love with Kat, sending flowers in the Vic where Alfie can see them, writing “I love you” on a piece of tissue, being desperate for a s*ag with a trashy woman in a dirty bedsit, having affairs with a married woman, going behind Alfie’s back, can not be anymore out of character even if you tried. But you can expect anyything from the writers and the producers these days. Characterization by a large is a thing of the past.

i really miss ronnie, every episode i watch of eastenders i keep imagining what would she be doing and what would she do in this situation, how would she interact with this person etc

Don't watch the show anymore. I was looking forward to SHaron's return but its been terrible and they have made a pigs ear of an old favourite. Pairing her with Jack = lack of ideas. Like people have said zero chemistry so I switched off again.

I think Roxy has grown as a character but is still going in circles when it comes to men. I would like to see her paired with Alfie ONLY if Kat and Alfie split for good but that isn't something the EE team will ever do - they want to reccyle the 2003-2005 period again

I could see Sam returning for aguest stint in her release maybe - tie up a few things (Kat, baby, Roxy, visit Danielle, kick Jack in the goolies for betraying her about 19999 times).

I would love to see Ron back even for a brief appearance, as strong and independent, beautiful and glamorous woman just to show everyone that she has turned her life around and give the invested viewers some satisfactory ending.

Am I the only one who thinks Roxy hasn't grown as a character? To me, she's the same old Roxanne, just not stamping her feet and pouting when Ronnie says 'no.'
She still doesn't have her own place, doesn't have a job (I've not seen EE in a while so correct me if I am wrong), still going after the "wrong" men and she still carries Amy every where even though the girl is FOUR years old this year!!
I've said it so many times before, I really had hoped the Amy nearly drowning s/l would be the making of Roxy. But no :sleep:

She meets this guy and they build up a business together. He helps her back to the strong glamourous independant self again and professional turns personal after much pursuing on his behalf. He takes her on proper dates an that. He genuinely loves and cares for her but he insists to Ronnie she needs to make her peace back at the square.
Cue her return.
