off there soon and my girls want to kow if they take their small dvd player and scart lead and dvds will it work on there tv system as they need a film and a chill before going out at night

That's not a straightforward question to answer....
What we can say for sure is that Egyptian TVs are very unlikely to have a SCART socket, so the girls will need some other connection cables. The simplest connection to a local TV will be the yellow phono connector (composite video) for picture, and then the red & white phono pair for sound. Egypt uses the same picture standard as the UK - it's called PAL. They use a slightly different standard for sound, but that won't be a problem with a direct connection on red & white phonos. What you won't know is if the TV has some of the above sockets, and if so are they able to be selected once the connections are made. The reason I say that is that the big hotel chains have special TVs where the settings are locked. The best you can do is prepare and then take the view that if they can connect then it's a bonus. Egyptian TV's have scart sockets. They have the same models as sold in Europe. The DVD region for playback is also the same (Region 2)
