It's good to get a release date at last! I didn't expect 16 tracks but I'm not complaining .

Beyond excited! I'm so glad Once and Pray For Me made the cut, as they're two of my favourite unreleased songs of hers.

Found this video of her performing the first four tracks from the album, including the title track. I think this could be her best album yet.

There's another video here of the 4 track medley which I prefer even though it's not quite complete because the sound quality is pretty good. Will be interesting to hear what the songs sound like on record

Laura has composed the music for the new production of As You Like It by the Royal Shakespeare Company. I wonder if this is what caused the delay in releasing the new album? One of the songs can be heard in the trailer for the play here:

Exclusive first play of Master Hunter and an interview on Radio 1 with Zane Lowe

Nice little reference to Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe" in the song! She's living out in LA now too!

29 minutes in.

She played this when I saw her live last year, I was really hoping it would make the album! Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

She was great, I'd recommend seeing her if you get the chance. She did a little solo acoustic set halfway through the gig when I saw her, 'Master Hunter' was part of that .

Lost for words. Simply stunning. I could listen to her sing the phone book directory.

New album is streaming and DS have been kind enough to post it in their article (it's quality of course):

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/ne...le-listen.html

In this short article Laura explains the theme/thought process behind the album. At the end she says she's already writing the next album, mostly on electric guitar, which is quite intriguing.

I've just pre-ordered the album and paid extra for first class delivery. I will be so annoyed if it isn't with me by Tuesday!

I have avoided the streaming of the album for now but can't promise that I won't be hearing it before my copy arrives.

Well just got, and listened to it over the weekend. Quite wonderful. I seriously doubt she realises quite how good she is. 'Once' in particular manages to pull of the neat trick of musically sounding like White Album era Beatles, while lyrically coming off as articulate as Prime Bob Dylan. Astonishing.

She's certainly got a way with words. I really like the final line(s) in that song ("I was a child once, I was happy young, when all I didn't know needed doing had be done") and of course it refers back to a previous line in the song "You Know". That's the thing about the album; it's a proper album with an overall narrative and recurring themes and motifs that's supposed to be taken as a whole. It's not simply a collection of unrelated songs and I think that's one of the reasons it's received such great reviews. Some of us still appreciate the album as an art form .

I have to be honest, when I first heard the album as a whole I wasn't sure. Having listened to it some more though, I understand why it has been receiving such positive reviews. I felt the same when "...Creature" was released and now it's one of the most played albums in my collection.

^ That lyric should read "...been done" of course (it had been a long day ).

An interesting thing about the album is that the recurring themes and loose structure (kind of in 3 parts in 3 different tunings) was not a conscious process. That just happened naturally as she wrote the songs (I'm sure I read somewhere that the songs are in the order they were written which would make sense). She explains the album really well in this interview with SPIN.

Probably the best interview I've read with regard to Laura discussing herself and her song writing:

Yeah there aren't that many artists whose interviews I bother to read (even those I really like) as the music is enough but I do find Laura and her song writing interesting to read about.

I would say though that she doesn't really say or reveal much in video/radio interviews when other people are listening so one-on-one interviews for newspapers/magazines are usually a lot better.

Well enjoy. After watching her on jools holland, my guess is you will. One of the most hypnotic performances I've seen in years.

She has been doing these Secret Cinema gigs before a 'normal' tour. They sound really interesting and unique - a 1920's themed run down hotel with actors playing the staff. There's a review here from The Telegraph.

She's also supposed to be doing something for the BBC Proms which will be interesting as her music isn't exactly upbeat and celebratory .

My tickets arrived. Very quickly I must say. I've ordered tickets for other gigs before hers and they haven't arrived yet.
