It's here:

http://youtu.be/DdCdT_dcmUI

It's a short f*cking movie, man
I know, I won't try and take it slow
One of the things that I love about Laura is that there was no use of social media to draw hype. I hate it when artists ask for a certain amount of retweets before "unlocking" the album title or single title.

Just announce it for God's sake!

I love her. No gimmicks

Absolutely. There's no arsing around when it comes to recording either. It sounds to me that this new song was sung in one take and left as is or "as live" if you like. Another example of this is the new cover of Bonny Portmore she did for a US TV series:

I love that she records like that. Her last album was played from start to finish and recorded in that manner. I don't know how many takes it took, though.

.

Yes, and more info here on the new album confirms she recorded live again:

"Marling’s new album notes a switch from acoustic guitar to electric, and Marling co-produced the album with drummer Matt Ingram and engineer Dan Cox. The album was recorded live, and Marling had the band play “blind,” or only hearing the track once before playing it, which provides a less-structured and more free flowing sound".

New Laura interview from Uncut Magazine where she talks about the new album. I think it was before the album was finalised (or she just has a bad memory ) but some good info about the ideas behind the album:

Interesting read, thanks for the link.

This is the album that I am most excited about for 2015. Roll on March.

'Woman Driver', a short film starring Laura Marling will premiere at the London Short Film Festival on January 14th:

I remember reading about this in Oct/Nov 2013 and wondered what happened with it. I'll post it here if the film is put online.

Video for False Hope is out. It's a live recording so it's a different version of the song. It always looks a bit weird to me to see her miming but I like this:

Someone saw some release dates a while back and I think the next single will be "Gurdjieff's Daughter". Looking forward to that as it sounds like a really good, catchy song to me.

'Walk Alone', 'Strange', 'Gurdjieff's Daughter' and 'Warrior' are my early favourites from this album.

Still love 'False Hope' too despite the fact I have overplayed it haha

I wish that I could say yes though she is playing no where near me this time. Do you have tickets?

I do I'm going to see her in Glasgow this month. Can't wait! There are few artists I'd travel that far to see, but she's worth it.

I'm really enjoying the new album. I feel like musically it's another step forward and it bodes well for even better things to come (I've always thought that her best work won't be done until she's in her mid/late twenties). But to write the 5 albums she has before the age of 25 is a fine achievement.

If you've not heard the bonus track "Daisy" yet, you can listen to it on my friend's Laura Marling blog here:

Any Nick Drake fans on here?
I'm still getting used to the album, and apologies, I'm dreadful with song titles, but track four - Feel My Love(?) - is strikingly similar to Man In A Shed.
It says something of how much of a frighteningly accomplished guitarist she is if she's emulating him.

There can be very few 'acts' that are as good as her live on the planet right now. She was astonishing in Glasgow tonight.
I've seen two of her influences Bob Dylan and Neil Young and tonight she surpassed them both. Not hard in Dylan's case to be honest.
High Kudos to the girl in the crowd who with impeccable timing shouted out 'Scotland!' During Goodbye England resulting in Laura collapsing in to giggles.
Just brilliant. If anyone on here hasn't seen her yet, go see her as soon as you can.

Next thing for Laura appears to be Latitude Festival in a few weeks.

Laura Marling has re-released her album "Short Movie" digitally, titled "Short Movie (Director's Cut)"

There is no physical version available as of yet. I'm streaming it on Apple Music. I need to add this album to my collection at some point.
