Really surprised how well this is doing, but it's a great feel-good track.
Has a 90's sound to it.

Shouldn't be shocked, she's got a huge marketing budget.

Very well done to her! I hope the song sneaks ahead of Wretch32 plus her EP was ahead of his on the itunes album chart, I think that gets counted towards her sales total of the single

It's definitely a great track. I can't wait to hear what else she has up her sleeve.

I am excited for the album as she did like several songs for an acoustic set on Virgin ON DEMAND

The song is absolutely brilliant. Her ep is the first thing ive bought thats in the "charts" in years. Surprised it's doing soo good as well but it certainly deserves success. It's a truely epic, sophisticated song. Her voice soars throughout. I LOVE IT!!!!

This. She isn't talented, and it's a great song, but it seems pretty much every single radio station in the country has been playing her the past month, so it's not a huge surprise to me that she's #2.

Plus, a lot of UK hip hop fans have bought the song, since she's been quite prominent on the UK hip hop scene the past few years.

So I know a lot of you hate rap music, but it is part of the reason Emeli (and Ed Sheeran, for that matter) has been able to have a good mainstream solo career, so you should be greatful for that.

This time next year she'll fade away into obscurity.

None of these buzz artists ever have any longevity, aside from like Ellie Goulding and obviously Adele, and perhaps Jessie J, though all of these artists are co-managed by Americans anyway.

Little Boots? Duffy? Ting Tings? La Roux? Mika? The Gossip? etc. The list goes on-and-on-and-on-and-on...

Little Boots: Give her a chance to record her second album
Duffy: yes, but the timing wasn't great imo and airplay failed
Ting Tings: They've been recording an album for about 3 years D: agree noone really remembers them now but hopefully they'll have a good comeback, worried about it though
La Roux: She released a trailer for a video a year ago! D: But still give her a chance to record, it takes longer than you think
Mika: Agree comeback wasn't as good as his first album
The Gossip: Sounds like they've broken up
