I've just been watching some of Tina's dances on YouTubes and she looks like she has potential. There was a definite thought at the start of last series that she would be up there with Kara as a contender but she never seemed to match her potential. What went wrong? Was it her chicken pox, her own lack of technique or her professional partner?

I know it would be unfair but I'd like to see her come back and partner Vincent who I believe would have gotten more out of her.

She wasnt my favourite but I agree she went way too early. Her charleston was really good dont u think???

Her Latin was very good- she just didn't seem able to let go.

I think because her partner was devoutly religious and some years younger than her, their relationship and chemistry was very awkward. Not to mention that gallumphing great idio Tess trying to stir up a romance between them?!

I think the weeks absence was basically where it went wrong - also she wasn't exactly the biggest character to hit the floor - had the show had a dance off she probably would have stayed longer.

But I would say dodgy choreography/ the weeks absence didn't help her tbh

I remember in the Launch Show when Tina was introduced with Michelle Williams and Pamela Stephenson - we thought Tina and Michelle would be able to dance, but Pamela wouldn't.

And 3 months later, we had finished witnessing the most shocking series.

Thats true, dond.

When it started we assumed Michelle & Tina would be amongst the favourites! I even predicted Pamela would be out first

I really liked Tina and I thought she may have been a little like Louisa Lytton!

Tina was one of my favourites and I was very annoyed when she left so early.
Perhaps not to the standard of Kara or Pamela, but she could of made it a lot further.

I think Jared was maybe too inexperienced for the show - if she had been with Darren she may well have gone a lot further in the competition than she did

I don't suppose that awful catsuit she was given for the AT helped. Had it been me I would have refused to wear it and insisted on a dress.

But then that is purely my opinion

I seem to recall Jared taking a lot of the blame- I think he was as nervous as her!

Her personality would have been more suited to Vincent.

Tina O'Brien- What went wrong?

Jared he was a nice enough guy but no where near up to the standard of the other professionals IMO and that is where Tina went wrong

I also thought she would have got a lot further with Darren.
She's been having lessons somewhere though because she was really good on tour!

Everyone blamed Jared but I honestly did not think it was him. I believe it was Tina. Just not a good dancer.

she was in the dangerous middle ground area. People will all obviously vote for the brilliant ones, Kara, Matt, Pamela etc. But equally people pick up the phone for the hyped up terrible ones like Ann, Gavin etc

And then the ones that are maybe not front runners but still quite good end up getting kicked out.......Tina, Jimi etc

Noone's mentioned pleather yet....

I also think doing a notably bad Argentine Tango didn't help, because it's not something people had really seen criticised heavily before in any form (except possibly Matt Dawson, but who even remembers that he did one?). Also that was the week Michelle Williams was saved from being in her zillionth bottom 2 via the magical powers of TIMEWARP.

I did - called it an awful catsuit - why didn't she just refise to wear it. It was so tacky - she could have asked for a black dress. I am sure they would have done it had she said look i do not like the catsuit

I would have

The catsuit was dreadful, really awful.

It's up there amongst the worst costumes ever (Carol's infamous Rumba outfit and Jan's Jive monstrosity possibly beat it)

They made her look tacky - why oh why did she not say I am not wearing it and they would have had to change her outfit

Strange idea, but maybe she liked it

I again would have to say that Jared was the problem, but it wouldn't have been solely down to him.
I wouldn't agree that it was awkward chemistry because of his religious beliefs - afterall he has learnt to dance so would have had to get used to being in close contact. I think the main thing was that ballroom and latin wasn't Jared's primary dance style so he wasn't as expert as the other pros. From his biography it sounded like West Coast Swing and the theatre dance was his main dance style. Additionally he appeared to dance American style ballroom as opposed to international style (there are distinct differences). This showed in his choreography for Tina and differences in technique. He also danced their week one cha cha cha with bent legs. So it was a combination of inexperience as a pro dancer, and differences in technique and styling.
In that respect she might have got further with Darren (or possibly Vincent, but I think more suited to Darren) but then again she might not have. I don't think you can assume that she would have been a great dancer just because she was young and a tiny slip of a lady!

I can't think the chickenpox would have helped. Even before it manifested, she would have already incubated the virus and might not have been at full health capacity.

Poor Tina, it was unfair that she had Jared. Although Jared was good like u say he wasnt as good as the others. So unfair on Tina. And again the chicken pox probably hindered her. It had probably begun to set in the weeks before it actually came about too so although she might not have realised it she probably wasnt at her best like u say. I dont think she'd have won or necessarily made the final but I thought she would have got quite a lot further than she did.

I just don't think she had a voteable personality and just blended into the background (even with her Coronation Street fan base.) Jared was completely wrong suited for SCD and am glad he wasn't asked back so that probably didn't help Tina either.

yeah i agree. Thats kind of what i was getting at before with the middle ground. She wasnt dire like Ann but wasnt brilliant like Kara/Pamela etc so although people probably didnt want her out they probably wasnt all that bothered on keeping her in either
