I saw a news piece today about this abomination:

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Diet/de...ry?id=14291787

Quote:
“Deep Fried Butter contains frozen butter that's dipped into a sticky cinnamon-honey batter, submerged in bubbling oil until browned, then drizzled with a confectioner's sugar glaze.”

and there's this:

Quote:
“Last month, food stands at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, Calif., where the 2011 theme was "Let's Eat," served up the "coronary combo," pairing up sticks of deep-fried butter with chocolate-covered bacon.”

Would anyone even try it? How did anyone even think of it?

Because they're 'free' adults who 'won't be told what to do'.

Bah, at only 830 calories a cup this is practically a health food.

I love the taste of butter, as an enhancer of other ingredients!

The idea of deep fried butter on its own really just turns my stomach

How were they?

Chocolate covered crisps are very popular in Japan and very nice too.

I've had deep fried coconut milk in a chinese restaurant once.
It was quite nice.

I saw a deep fried item on a TV show which was basically a block/stick of cheddar, wrapped in a green pepper, battered and deep fried.

It was kind of an inside out jalepeno popper.

I've had deep fried ice cream, tasted a bit weird but wasn't unpleasant.

And why not ? There is also deep fried camembert & brie.
Must admit that I love deep fried food, but keep myself in check

Don't know, never had it. And I love butter and all, so I would probably like it.

That makes today's lunch - brie and bacon panini, followed by a blueberry muffin - seem positively healthy!

I assume you coat the thick creamy stuff you get in cans in batter & deep fry it.
Mark.

Or, like most liquids that are deep-fried, it's frozen first.

Doesn't coconut milk separate when frozen?

Just had a thought.
Butter is churned cream.
You know Gulab Jamun ? The Indian sweet ?
In my mind it would be a bit like eating that with a dollop of cream.
