I sometimes collect/ get the CD Singles of the Music artists, as well as the albums, I think that they are kinda pretty neat to have... Any else do so?

Bought some Yesterday:-

Blue - Too Close
Kelly Rowland feat. Travis McCoy (of Gym Class Heroes") - Daylight
Westlife - Bop Bop Baby
Darren Hayes - Insatiable

No, but I know someone who has collected single people, and one or two may have been seedy.

I have hundreds. Hard to get hold of now so many of my favourite acts have abandoned them.

Where do you get them? Haven't seen them in years. Didn't think anyone bothered with them anymore.

I collect Westlifes and I might start getting The Saturdays too if they release them on Play/Amazon/HMV and not just the Universal store. I really like them, it's nice having a hard copy and I love the b-sides you get with them, for both Westlife and The Sats their b-sides have been very strong.

Most acts don't bother with them any more. If you shop around you can find import copies or promo singles issued to radio stations.

I prefer CD Singles to Digital Downloads. I literally have a cabinet full. I remember I used to buy at least 1 a week when I was about 7, and not my money to spend

You can get then in charity shops. You can find some right tunes in there haha

I have around 2500 CD singles of all sorts of various artists. Everything from A1 to Wyclef Jean...

Nowadays, i tend to either get the cd single if it comes out in the UK from HMV or if it doesn't as an import from Amazon.de.

The Saturdays always sell their singles on HMV?

I used to love going into Our Price on a Monday to buy the latest ones. Most releases had a CD1 & CD2 to boost the chart position, and they were discounted to £1.99 each the first week. 3 or 4 tracks per disc.

Lol that makes two of us. Got about 4000 cd singles, sad I know, but theres a big hole in my life without em! I do the same Amazon.de all the way, most single releases still see a cd version released in Germany but download only releases are becoming more common there aswell now.

I still have hundreds and wont part with them. I really think it is a shame. I used to love getting the ones with 4 or 5 different remixes.

Are you not better just buying from Amazon UK or Ebay? I know Amazon Germany might be a bit cheaper by a pound or two but by the time you add postage it soon mounts up.

If Amazon UK has them listed.

e.g. Snow Patrol's new single is MP3 only in the UK. Amazon.de has a CD on offer though it only has 2 tracks of the 4 with the UK MP3, which isn't very helpful.

Not anymore they don't. They've switched to Universal Store exclusives with All Fired Up. But yeah, all their previous singles were available on Amazon/HMV etc, but they're not cheap to get hold of nowadays.

Thats the problem with collecting newish CD singles - so few are produced that they quickly become rarities. Like Up by The Saturdays - I've been looking for a copy for ages, but they rarely sell for less than £20. Or Mini Viva's I Wish - the cheapest one I can see online at the moment is £25.

I guess it will only be a couple of years before CD singles are phased out altogether

You can point the finger at yourselves. All the young generation too busy downloading instead of buying, that's why the store shelves are empty.

I am a collector of CD singles or vinyl singles but sadly HMV stock less and for the year this year. I stopped buying them as never saw them in HMV but online yes i decided to make the sad decision of not to buy or if any the odd one i could find.

I had been collecting them since 2001 and had gone to HMV every week since to buy latest releases and not only new stuff. I have CD singles from 80's and 90's too., I have well over 5,000 CD singles and if not promo copies or in cardboard sleeves all the ones in jewel cases i sort them A - Z so they go on shelfs.

I will still collect any old CD single i find at car boots, charity shops etc if i want it and mostly prefer them for the b sides and stuff not on album and also weird ones and singles by artists that don't chart in the main top 75.

My collection has everything from A1 to Zuttons, obscure bands. all kinds

It depends on the artist. For example I collect The Saturdays singles because they always have b-sides and sometimes the promo CDs have instrumentals. I wouldn't collect Lady Gaga singles because they only ever have remixes, and those generally don't interest me.

So I'm not a collector in the sense that I'd buy something just to complete my collection, even if I wasn't interested in the content. But I do love buying CD singles with b-sides. I like to own all my music physically.

I used to but a lot of them when they were everywhere and cheap but I've practically stopped in the last ten years ie. since I switched to buying most of my CDs and vinyl online.

Are CD singles even still made like they used to be? Because I've only seen like maybe one or two recently, but back in the day, there used to be a lot of them.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. I have a good deal of them, but they are not of anything that is new if that is what you were wondering about.

I do occasionally to pick up hard to find great b-sides and cool remixes from my top favorite artists like..

Alista's Attic, Meja, Danielle Dax, Sanit Etienne and Briskeby.

I love singles because they have really cool artwork covers, additional interesting information on the songs featured and nice extra photos of the artist/band.
