This is driving me mad.

I have the HTC HD Desire.

I use to be able to use Internet Pass Through, but some time back it just suddenly wouldn't let me.

It says 'turning on' for about 5 minutes then comes up saying I need to make sure I have the latest HTC Sync installed and to check firewall.

I've tried downloading the latest HTC Sync, but because I'm on a dial up connection it isn't possible. My connection times out every two hours and with the file being 148mb it is a nightmare.

I've contacted HTC Sync by email to see if they can send me a disk with the latest version on.

The current one I have 3.0.5439, the latest one is 3.0.5551.

I've tried everything so it must be my out of date version as months a go I use to be able to use Internet Pass Through, and it was so much faster and convenient for me.

Could anyone be kind enough to download it to disk and send it me?

Not sure what else I can do.

Thanks.

Can you not download via a wireless fast internet connection?
Starbucks?

(I've also used free hotel WiFi in the US by parking in their carpark with my lap top)

Grreat idea. Even McDonalds has free wifi. Download whike you eat.

It s oossible that your Desire HD recieved an OTA update to Gingerbread and that is why it does not work with the older version of Sync.

Ha ha didnt think about that. Excuse my spelling in the first post, typing on a phone. I am pretty sure all you need is the latest HTC usb drivers. A much smaller download. Pop over to XDA Developers forum, Desire HD section and there should be links there.

Umm, you download the file to your sd card. You connect your phone to the pc as 'disk drive' option. Copy the file over to the pc, then install it.

BTW - how do you do windows updates??
