It should be reasonably simple to have the panel replaced with a flat panel and have the dog flap fitted in the flat panel. I have the same problem but glass lower section. I am changing it to flat ply & UPVC to accomodate the flap.

What size is your dog? I have a small and a large dog but thinking of getting a flap so just the small dog can get through as I would be worried about a burglar getting through a bigger flap. Can anyone with a big dog give their views and experience?

I have a couple of Staffy and an American Bulldog .... they dont come much bigger than her. I would not want to be a burgler with his head through my door with my 3 dogs licking their lips ready for him

I have a small dog flap but it would still be big enough for a child to get through although if the state of my letters that come through the letter box is anything to go by....
I changed my glass panel to 25mm ply at the weekend and fitted the largest flap I could find locally (Pets at home £32) ... two of my dogs are fine with it, but the American Bulldog wont put her head through it. It does have a panel that locks it but a human would easily knock that panel out of the way. A small shouldered person would easily get through it if they wanted to but my yard is double locked and the door is weel out of sight so we should be ok.
My friend has a dog flap big enough for her belgian shephard to get through. I can get through it (quite handy when she forgot her keys...). I'm 6'2", but not particularly wide and quite 'bendy'.
