PAC Nightmare
My Mum got a new phone on a special existing customer only contract with vodafone just recently. Beforehand she'd been on Asda PAYG. When we ordered the phone, the customer service rep said that the PAC code from Asda would not go through for some reason, but to try again on the website when the phone came. We did this and had a provisional porting date of Wednesday given, however Wednesday came and vodafone rung us, saying that the PAC wouldn't go through because it 'doesn't match the number'. We gave them the PAC again just to be certain that we hadn't given it to them wrong, but again they said that it's an invalid PAC. We've contacted Asda who've said that they can't issue another PAC and that this one is definitely the correct one.
Having e-mailed vodafone again, nothing seems to be happening quickly other than one advisor getting the wrong end of the stick and providing us with a PAC to port out of vodafone. That's not what we wanted anyway obviously and even if it was it'd not be possible as it's a 24 month contract... Now, I'm pretty sure that I've read before about people having issues porting from Asda to Vodafone, and I'm wondering if the best course of action would be to port the number out to Orange instead (I have a spare inactive SIM lying around), then request a PAC from Orange and give that to Vodafone. I want to do this fairly quickly though as I need it sorted by next Thursday ideally (we're going abroad). Will Orange issue a PAC this quickly? And will I need to top the Orange SIM up in order for them to give me one? |
