Hollyoaks or Family Affairs?- Advice Please
Hi fellow soap lovers!
Just a quick query. I have been watching Hollyoaks for years but recently have found myself growing quite fed up with it. I was wondering if I could have some advice on whether it was worth switching my allegiances as I have never watched Family Affairs. Thanks!

Nope. I stopped watching family affairs recently because I got tired of all the excitement. I now watch Hollyoaks in the week rather than the omnibus. If you want to, you can watch them both this way (family affairs in the week, Hollyoaks Omnibus on sunday(saturday on E4) and everyones happy)

One vote for Hollyoaks then!
I was always curious why Family Affairs never had an omnibus I suppose I could see how all these new characters settle in- I wouldn't mind seeing what Family Affairs is like though.

3-1 so far. Seemed like it was going to be a landslide but it could turn around yet.

Isn't SB American? I don't normally like those, but I might have a look as I am of from Uni anyway. Depends if I take a day of the gym.

Which gets the highest ratings- Family Affairs or Hollyoaks? That might help be a decider. Although it doesn't look like I'm going to need a decider at this rate!

Sunset Beach starts next Monday at 10:30am.
As you have watched Hollyoaks for years and you are actually getting fed up with it (like i was), give Family Affairs a chance for a month or so and then decide because atleast then you have actually watched both soaps to make your own decision. |

Cheers. I think I will probably watch a few episodes of Family Affairs just to see what it's like, and then watch the Hollyoaks omnibus if I remember. Then, if I do like Family Affairs I will switch over properly- if not then I won't be out of touch with Hollyoaks. Perfect.

I actually thought I'd watch Family Affairs today to check it out, and I switched back to Hollyoaks before the first ad break.
It was simply boring, but then Hollyoaks was just as bad. I wish they'd just give that damn serial killer storyline a rest!! |

I really like Family Affairs. You would need to watch it for a week or two to get into it though, as with anything new. It is as good as EE is at the moment, and sometimes better (in that it is a Ferreira-and- Micky-free zone).
There seems to be a new storyline starting with Chrissie and her Chigwell friend, so that should be good value. The Sean-Tanya baby stuff is getting interesting too. The only thing I don't like is the endless Eileen-Pete stuff, neither of them interest me and her acting is all on one note. Ben, I don't think 18 year old guys are FA's target market so I'm not surprised you didn't like it - the schedulers assume you will be watching Hollyoaks so you're not catered for at 6.30 on 5

Family Affairs Executive Producer - Paul Marquess has gone on record as saying that FA specifically targets Gay men and Women as their main audience.
By the way - the ratings for both the shows have been very similar of late and thats the reason why Hollyoaks are making so many changes to the show - to dramatically improve the ratings. |

Don't worry- I'm going to give it at least two weeks chance. It's on now and doesn't seem that good so far. It has only been 15 mins though! It's the serial killer storyline that's really the last straw for me with Hollyoaks- I think they killed Toby of too soon then came up with a rubbish storyline about Dan going to prison. I completely stopped watching it for a period there but didn't think to try family affairs.
Looking forward to SB now as well. I was sat there when it would be on thinking that there was nothing good on! I'm sure you will all be glad I made it to the gym as well. For the second day in a row and I am going tomorrow as well! I made it in one peace!

Did anyone catch the advert for Sunset Beach before FA started tonight? I was sat here at the PC then heard the words "Sunset beach", turned round and saw a yellow screen with the words 'Sunset Beach, this Monday, 10:30am). Was that it for the advert or did they actually show any of the characters?

Sorry, I forgot I was supposed to be watching FA until about 2 minutes into it, so I didn't see the bit just before!
