A downward trend is inevitable with a show that has a strong story arc. As time goes on people drop away but new viewers will be discouraged by not knowing the backstory.
I've enjoyed Fringe but would be happier for it to be wrapped up neatly soon than go on for too long and be suddenly cancelled

I agree; I really enjoyed the episode. It's sad to see the ratings continuing to be bad even if it's in the death slot. Unfortunately episodes like last night don't help in improving the audience but I find it hard to understand why fans would desert the show now when it's so good imho!

Ok, I've managed to get lost with who is who and where and why etc.
Right, I thought Peter was Walternate's son and therefore the woman he was talking to was his mother.ie. he was abducted from redverse and taken to greenverse and then drowned and then was saved by the Watcher. Peter then vanishes from existence and reappears at the lake in the Brownverse. However, now they are saying he isn't their son. I've missed something really bloody obvious haven't I?!?! Apologies if I've mixed up my universes. Can someone please explain things to me please. |

So Peter doesn't consider himself to be the Son of this Walternate and this Elisabeth (who were told their son Drowned once dialogue was established between the two Universes). It all depends how you view things, Peter considers the Two Universes he's currently in as totally seperate to the ones he was in in Seasons 1 - 3, hence his talk about using the machine to find a way home. It of course may turn out that somebody ends up going back in time and saving Peter from the lake which would alter the timeline back to the original Blue and Redverses. |

My brain hurts
![]() Thanks Corwin that kind of makes sense. I guess the fact he emerged out of a lake as a fully grown adult may sort of disassociate you from where you came from. So do you think when/if he finally gets back to the original universe that people will recognise him? |

Originally we had Universe A (Blueverse) which was linked by Walter's Experiments with Universe B (Redverse). Peter now believes himself to be in Universe C and Universe D. Universe A - Peter Died of the Disease. Universe B - Peter was taken by Walter to Universe A and cured. Universe C - Peter died of the Disease Universe D - Peter was taken by Walter to Universe C but drowned in the Lake. However my opinion is that Universes C and D are just Universes A and B which have been altered by the one incident of Peter Drowning. For Peter to get back to Universe A and B he or someone would have to travel back in time and save young Peter from drowning in the lake, then everything would revert back to how things were in Seasons 1-3. Of course that also means Universe B gets destroyed, Olivia gets shot by Walternate and Universe A will eventually be destroyed as well. The Observers probably won't let Peter do this as Universes C and D are the way they want things to happen. Possibly a too happy ending but what I'd hope to see play out is that Universes C and D continue to exist but the people regain their memories of adult Peter. |

Great episode yesterday, some fantastic scenes.
They did steal the idea of creating the multiple trackers from The Event though

Am liking the return to the arc instead of monster of the week eps.
Not sure why Dr Jones took that particular route to get his HD though, seemed a bit convoluted. Also universe travelling is like catching a plane it seems these days, is no big deal. |

Surely a lot easier than trying to break into the DoD HQ on Liberty Island... Quote:
As for Jones...He had a portal way back when he was last in Fringe. Without Peter to stop him, he obviously still has it. |

I just mean the getting arrested in the first place, in order to get released. If Broyles is working with him anyway, could he just of not picked it up?

These last two episodes have certainly picked up the pace again. Good stuff having Jared Harris back too.

This season hasn't really felt like it has progressed that much.
We should have had Peter back earlier on and had more stuff about the future visions we had at the end of the last season. I don't really like the replicator stuff. |

I still can't work out what it is Nina is doing. I'm guessing she is trying to induce Olivia's abilities but she seemed very concerned when she found out about the migraines.

One experimenting on Olivia and working with Jones the other (the one who brought her up) concerned about her and making her soup. I don't think they'll do this but it's always been a bit strange that there was never any mention of a Red Verse Nina. We know that with Peter and Bell the other 2 singular main characters that their alt universe counterparts died but we don't know what (if anything) happened to Red Nina. |

One does get the general feeling that Nina does care but we've only seen a couple of major instances where she appears to be up to no good! It certainly makes it interesting to watch. The season continues to be excellent imho,

Hmmm that's a good point! The writers did say they wanted to tell Nina's story at some point and explain why she didn't feature in the other universe

But seeing as it seemed to kill adults in the alt universe in season three then it'll be interesting to see what happens. |

I freaking love this show.
But, as hard as it is to admit, I can see why the ratings are failing. When I first picked up s4 (after the pete dissapearing timeline reboot thing), it left me feeling pretty empty. All the priceless interactions between Peter & Walt, the tension between Peter & Olivia and the bonds between them all, that I grew so much to love, just vanished overnight.. It changed the show so completely, I can understand why casual/mainstream viewers are dropping it. Presumably Peter will get back to his timeline by the series climax, but by then it'll all be for nothing if it doesn't get renewed. And if not, that'll be a crying shame

Yeah, loved her little scream when seeing Altstrid and her indignation when Walter gets Altstrids name right.

I'm wondering if we're heading towards a rogue observer storyline with September. I really hope so, because that could be fantastic.

yeah was a great "agent farnhams" based ep this week, was lovely to see Altlivia making peace with Walter as well. She really is the sexy and fun Livia whereas Olivia seems so uptight.
I dont get why Astrid said her dad was unable to show her love, when we saw them at the end it was him that asked her for a hug..... |
