Seeing Catarella in civvies and holding a gun at the start of the episode led me to expect an "Oh Catarella" moment there and then.
Next week's episode is Excursion to Tindari, one of the two that have been shown before. |

I also find the continuing, will they, won't they, romance a bit tiresome. Didn't he propose a few episodes ago ? Get together and stop mooning around for heavens sake !
I also adore that little house by the sea - his swims in the sea have become part of each ep now. Amusing to see him taking that phone down the beach with him at one point - I wonder why he had one of those old-fashioned dial phones in 2000 though.

Quite an unusual episode and very moving in places, I'm certainly enjoying this now. Still not sure why Livia lives in the north or why her voice is dubbed ( in the sense that why just not employ an Italian speaking actress and save all the trouble of dubbing) One possibility is that the programme is a joint Italian / Swedish production and Livia speaks her own voice in that ( In English)and all the other characters are dubbed.

Anyone thinking of visiting can take an official Inspector Montalbano tour. Half day 3 hours, full day 7 hours.

Thoroughly enjoying this series, but don't normally watch crime drama. It's building up nicely into a rich storyline with Montelbano's character being slowly revealed. I was tempted to buy one of the books; The Shape of Water, the first one written. Interesting to see how the series has been adapted from the books.
Sidenote; The head waiter at our local Italian Restaurant is the spit of Montelbano. We had previously chuckled at his Basil Fawlty subtext with customers (Have you booked? What - nothing to drink?) so we will now be referring to him as 'Basil Montalbano' |

I'm also interested in seeing how the books have been adapted - I've been having a browse on Amazon and reading a few of the reviews on there. They have very colourful covers. Will keep these books in mind after I've read one or two others.

Lo and behold, wasn't it the very next episode aired. I enjoyed reading it, couldn't put it down but I'll not be buying any more so I can enjoy the series. I see the first 4 episodes aired will be available on DVD in the UK tomorrow, but the second DVD won't be available until September - strange. BTW, I was out when the second episode was aired, so watched it on iplayer - much better for pausing to follow the plot (or rewind) or for visits to the loo or kitchen

Hey, I'm female and find him very attractive - that's really funny but ultimately I'll be swooning over him rather than poking fun

I am enjoying the show but wish they would lay off the pan pipes. I did think last night the sound effects record was a bit over used: cave - dripping sound check! Farm - invisible chickens - check! Night time - cicadas - check!

Not seen Swedish TV (anyway, not for many years), but I doubt if they are crass enough to dub foreign language programmes, rather than use subtitles.

Err...
"Help me out here." I wasn't concentrating throughout as I took a phone call whilst it was on. So who was the blond who said he was supposed to be meeting her for lunch when she turned up at his house and with whom he ended up in bed? He's certainly a cautious man. It makes me smile that his car has plastic "door savers" on their edges. |
