What is Ingrid's role exactly. She's not a policewoman is she? so why did she do that dangerous stunt , falling out of the car. Not much of Livia last night , but good to see Caterella at the party

Because she's some kind of racing driver. In one episode she was driving a car really fast to test another of MB's theories.

(And the food certainly looked nothing like 'croquettes' in the end, sheesh.)
They seem to change a load of words which they shouldn't.

For example, someone (Mimi?) is leafing through some photos of a girl (I think it wasn't Mimi, maybe Fazio or Catarella) and going "bellisima, Bellisima, Stupendo-" (or very close), and the subtitles translated the last word as brilliant. Now, maybe brilliant is stricly correct for that one, but to me "Stupendous" would have fitted far better.

There are similar (loads more) poor word choices in the scandinavian murder stuff, ...

She first appeared in La forma dell'acqua (The Shape of Water) as the wife/girlfriend of a murder victim. She worked as a stuntwoman I think

It was Catarella and he was looking at photos of Orlando, the dog from last week's episode.

Thanks for that. I do remember now her driving along the beach in an earlier episode.

As I remember it,Ingrid was a(swedish)rally driver.
The joke with the photos appeared to be that they were multiple copies of the same pose.

The BARB viewing figures for the week ending 25 Mar 2012 were 719,000,and the film was top of BBC 4's Top 10.
With only 2 more films to be transmitted,I hope BBC4 acquire the remaining films for future transmission.
For me,it will be like missing old friends when the current series finishes.

With viewing figures like that they'd be a fool not to get the rights for the remaining films

Do you know which ones BBC4 haven't bought the rights for yet, V?

The current series being shown are the first 10 films of a total of 22 that have been made between 1999 and 2011.
One presumes that BBC4 has not acquired the rights to films 11 onwards since they have restricted the current run to ten.

I didn't realise there were 22 made! I hope we get to see the others, I really like IM and I'm glad the viewing figures seem to be very healthy

Wasn't episode 6 on the weekend we had the nice weather? I'm just trying to account for the dip in viewing figures People at bbq's, out for the evening etc.

I think that, for a channel like BBC4, a variation in the BARB figures of 675k +/- 50k is within the "noise" level that can be expected from the statistical sampling methods.

I said that further up. I definitely recall that the subtitles said she was a racing driver. The Scandinavians do like their rallying.

I'm pleased Montalbano has a thread.

I watch it every week with my ancient Mother.

I think it's delightful - beautiful scenery and buildings, the people so attractive and natural and it takes it's time. Love it. Don't care too much about the holes, the incidental pleasures are too good.

Blast! When people were discussing Excursion to Tindari on this thread a few weeks back, I assumed they had shown all the new ones and were repeating the previous two they had already broadcast a few years ago.

Having looked at this thread today and after checking IPlayer, I have just realised they have shown another two new episodes. I bought the DVD with episodes 1 -4 and burned Tindari and Croquettes on to DVD. I can still watch the new two on IPlayer but can't record them.

What??

Let's say BBC4 do buy the remaining episodes of Mentalbaldo. It would probably be quite a while before they got round to broadcasting them

He means that the difference in viewing figures from week to week is not large enough to be significant and could just be a by-product of the way they are measured.

So a bit like the "margin of error" that journos always mention when talking about opinion polls??

Exactly like. To within the usual plus or minus a bit.

I'll be sad to see the last of Mentalbaldo, but The Bridge looks very promising from the trailer I saw the other night. Back to the dark, rainy Nordic nights And I can't wait!

Both Vagn and Svartman appear in The Bridge
