So now we have the house, Fazio Jr. and the coroner. Just Livia and Mimi to go! Oh, and it's not the same bed.

I'm enjoying YM, but I do miss lovely Luca and his bandy legs.

The house looked as pretty as ever and was somewhere I could be very happy living in.

Mery was very quick to get out of the relationship and get on the back of the other guys bike. If I was paranoid.....

The young Fazio looked like the current one whereas I have trouble picturing the young Salvo turn into the older Salvo.

I still think to complete the set we need to see a young Ingrid...she doesn't have to meet Salvo...it is so we can compare how the younger version would change into the current one - honest.

Im completely new to this. Do I need to watch something else to catch up, or to get a context?

I enjoyed this, it was a good companion to half a bottle of Chardonnay.
But I had to digest it in chunks as I find subtitles a bit of a pain.

My wife doesn't like it, but then she doesn't drink.

Spoiler
Next week
I don't get why Cristina is seen as all that innocent.
Spoiler
It may have actually not been poison, but she thought it was, and still gave it to him.

You only need to know the Italians are 'at it' like barndoors in a hurricane.
There are affairs at every turn, they're mostly sanguine about it.

Back to tonight, why did Salvo take it upon himself not to tell the old woman why her friend dropped her in it, all those years ago?

Forensics are a bit basic, they could have got a vague trajectory of the bullet from the victims height and the bullet hole in the window, quite quickly.
Then again we wouldn't have had Teresa and Ignazio getting all teary and emotional.

Spoiler
If it became known that what Cristina had given to her husband wasn't actually poison then there might be a case for her to have been charged with attempted murder rather than actual murder

Well we've had series of the older Montalbano and like Morse, they are not introducing us to the Young Montalbano and to characters who we have already met in the older Montalbano.

Tonight's was only the 2nd of this series; last week's is available on iPlayer till the end of the month.

Montalbano 'lite' if you ask me.
Not sure why I slog through it on timeshift.
Full fat Montalbano contains more loose ends and requires more discussion afterwards to untangle fact from fiction.

I enjoyed this one better than last week, it is fascinating how it is all coming together, although I do miss Luca and I don't think this young one is quite as charismatic. Did you notice the young lad who broke into Montalbano's house was Pasquale Cirincio - Adelina's son, so that was Adelina with her arancini! I suppose next week she will start her housekeeping duties for him. I thought the young Fazio looked good, but Catarella doesn't do it for me he is nowhere near as good as the real one.

Just got around to watching the first episode.

Really enjoyed it.

I'm glad they started off with him already an inspector rather than at the very beginning of his career.

I've just watched it too and I just love them both. I love the meandering nature of them, the corruptness, how intertwining everything is and how beautiful Sicily is.

I really like that they've started with how his relationship with the mafia started. My favourite thing is how honourable he is, even though he breaks every rule.

The young Montalbano is gorgeous he's just never going to be as sexy as Luca. Someone explain that to me. the short, bandy-legged, paunchy, bald guy is hotter than the tall, curly haired, ripped young guy.

That was what was bugging me all through this episode. And a shotgun would not have punched such a neat hole through the pane of glass would it?

And who was the younger bloke comforting Mrs Shotgun that MB saw through the window? I assumed he was her son but he did not appear again.

All in all a weaker episode than last week.

So it was a shotgun, assumed my eyes were deceiving me.
I too assumed it was their Son at the window, that's Montalbano fill in the blanks yourself

I remember an episode with 'the only other car in town' parked up, he just decided to start rooting around and searching it for no known reason.

This isn't as good as normal Montalbano IMO, it's missing that other wordly feel I seem to have got used to.
I moan about it every week, but I seem to miss it now the show doesn't seem to have it.
